Brilliant piece of kit, don't be fooled by the size. Packs a mighty punch with great battery life. I had the Go3 which was already a great piece of kit but this upgrade together with the app and the option to customize for your surroundings is a brilliant addition. Great when you don't have much space or don't want a big speaker using up space. Packs the punch of a far bigger speaker. Great for use in kitchen, gardens, walking, at the park, pool tennis courts or even on the bike it's so portable and durable. 10/10
I bought this a few weeks ago to replace the JBL GO4. The JBL Go 5 delivers louder, cleaner sound with improved bass for its tiny size. Its battery lasts up to 8–10 hours, depending on whether you use Playtime Boost. Connectivity is excellent thanks to Bluetooth 6.0, Auracast support, and USB‑C audio. The speaker is extremely tough, offering IP68 dust‑ and waterproofing plus a rugged body. It also features a refreshed design with ambient edge lighting, making it both durable and visually appealing.
I would really recommend this weekend to anyone for the size it packs a good punch will be added more products to my jbl collection 😀

Compared to the Go 4 it is very much better. The strap is much more flexible and can fit in tighter places easier and having a low battery sound notification makes it easier to start charging it instead of it just dying when you are busy. If you have the app you can permanently change how the lights are and just be off when you are using it. It can still connect with the old Go 4 and it is as durably as well. For me it sounds a bit more clearer than the old one.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great little speaker , sound improvement over the go 4 is noticeable. More clear highs and more punchy bass. I really like how they added the LED strobe lights to it. I also like how the JBL is outlined just stands out more and I enjoy the look of it. Weight is about the same as the go 4 with it just being a little more bigger but not by much at all. Still is very portable and you can pretty much fit it anywhere you want to stick it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Go 5 continues JBL's heritage by evolving this palm sized powerhouse and adding smarter pairing, bigger sound and deeper bass. I own several of the previous Go models and love the rugged portability coupled with great sound. I listened to several genres so far on this speaker including rap, techno, ambient, pop and jazz while both indoor and outdoor. Indoor listening was as perfect as you would expect but outdoors is where the surprise factor came in. The power and range this speaker can deliver was outstanding considering you can fit it in your pocket! The highs and mids were definitely powerful enough while remaining clear and crisp while the bass delivery left me totally thrilled. Fans can now pair with another JBL Go 5 by simply bumping the speakers together for what JBL calls Air Touch stereo pairing. There is also Auracast which allows this speaker to pair with other JBL Auracast speaker models. This absolutely opens the door to multi-speaker setups beyond the Go 5's size class. Other additions include ambient lights. You can change light patterns in the JBL portable app. The lighting also serves as visual cues for volume adjustment, low battery and pairing status to name a few. The app has preset and customizable EQ settings as well as Playtime Boost to help extend battery life which is rated at 8 hours plus two additional hours with Playtime Boost. Lossless connectivity is supported through USB-C cable and a lossless source. The Go 5 is dust and drop proof with a ip68 water proof rating which gave me peace of mind while hiking on the trails. The JBL Go 5 is truly one of the most rugged and versatile ultra-portable speakers on the market. It stretches far above its size with its sound and feature-rich capabilities. I can't recommend this speaker enough for those wanting portability, compact footprint and customizable sound with easy connectivity.
Wanted a small portable speaker and chose this over the GO4 due to the better Bluetooth. While the sound is excellent, the BT is disappointing. It still won't show the battery level with an iphone 17 pro outside of the JBL sound app, which BT ver 6.0 should easily do.
Love the 2 red ones I purchsed of the to go 5 ( after just purchasing a pair of to go 4's). However, for as big a company as you are, your operating instructions, or lack there off, suck. I had forgotten this issue when I purchased 2 Boom Boxes several years back. Whey can't you make an easy, straightforward, online manual to follow? How hard can it be?
Come on. If you send these out to people for free, you are not going to receive a 'genuine' review. If you are engaging with all of the 'influencer nonsense' then again, not a genuine review. Couldn't you wait for real fans/buyers to contribute their views. It really does seem desperate and a lot misleading. I own the Go 3 and it's really good and I purchased it with my own money and I will almost certainly buy the Go 5 once again with my own money. JBL won't be sending me a free one in the hope of a glowing review with lovely photographs included. Or will they? No they won't. Anyway, it would also help if What Hi-Fi didn't publish the review before the product was completely available. Very few of the colours are there to be purchased as I write this. Surely that does not make any business sense at all. Anyway, I'm certain it will be a great little product which I can listen to in the coming few days or weeks. I'll check back after the weekend for the latest news on availability.
