Great cargo box. I had to drill a couple holes to align with my racks, but this thing took a 1,000 mile trip right away. We put stickers on it. It's part of the family now. Not sure what is so fancy about the others, but this is the bang for your buck.
Purchased to use on top of a Toyota highlander for a 1800 mile round trip to Orange Beach AL in early May. Install was very easy, even if you aren't mechanically inclined. I packed it full of beach gear and our umbrella style stroller which fit perfectly length wise. The size was prefect for mid size SUV - we could still use our sun roof and there were zero issues at highway speeds the entire trip. Mileage decreased by maybe 1 MPG, and that's a huge maybe. Loading and unloading weren't bad at all. Follow the instructions and use all locks and latches and you will have a great experience. Solid value for the quality.
Bought this to go to Universal in Florida to have extra room so everyone could ride together. Held a large suitcase, baby walker, bouncy seat, 2 duffle bags and several smaller tote bags filled baby supplies with no problem at all!! Will definitely use it again and recommend for the wider items that won't fit in the vehicle.
We have an 8 seater 2023 Toyota Sienna and are going on an extended trip this summer. Needed something a little bigger as our Sienna is short on space when fully loaded with people. This thing has a ton of space compared to almost everything else we looked at and is way cheaper. It's also made in the USA so if you don't like something it'll be easy to contact customer service. There are indents to drill extra holes for different layouts on crossbars. I drilled the front hole on the front left and right and was in business. Just used a 1/4" drill bit because the holes from the factory were a 1/4" already. My son and I just set it up top and lined everything up to decide which holes to use. This dumb website won't let me upload my pictures or I'd show you. It says my picture is too big and I just think this website is too dumb.
Capacity will hold what we need it for. Bottom is a flexible plastic has hard top. I think it should travel fine.
This is a wonderful cartop carrier. It secures well to protect your belongings. Gas mileage wasn't impacted much. I did have to drill holes in it to have it fit my 2017 Ford Escape crossbars, but that was an easy process thanks to the prebuilt indentations every 2 inches to accommodate that need. I did find that this JEGS 90098 18 cu. ft. carrier appears to be EXACTLY the same as models offered at other stores (Cabela's, Farm & Fleet) and you might be able to find it for a better price at those other stores. I guess the JEGS sticker on the carrier is expected to be worth the extra cost. The free shipping was nice considering the size of the product.
Smaller than I thought, but good design. Take a few times to get used to the “holders” that old it up on an angle, while loafing. Worked for our vacation. Next year we will have to do either another one, or a bigger one.
When I took it out of the box the key did not work on one of the locks, the other lock did not engage so it did not work. The latching mechanisms on the side was very hard to use. I returned this item and still have not received a refund. Would not recommend.
Box is ok but the worst part is NOT using telescopic lifts for a box. They placed some metal rods which do not hold top of the box when you try to load it. The top very often comes off from them and falls on your hands or just can come of to the ground. So that is why you get 2 stars . Size is good, you can put a lot of luggage .
I put this thing on my roof and found out the locking mechanism would not line up properly and I could not safely lock the container, I was not happy as I had a road trip the next day. So I returned it for a refund the other day.
