I'm going to try it out I'm new to this but I saw the videos and the reviews so I will try to learn
This was my first welder. I am 14 years old and I got this welder for Christmas. Just found some scrap metal and my first time welding with it I was laying beads on some structural style metal. I love this welder and definitely recommend it especially for the price.
This is a great beginner welder and great quality
Would have loved to get a sticker with my purchase but that's okay. Had issue with a broken flange on wire tensioner upon set up. Made do with what I could as I needed it for a project immediately. Reached out to Jegs about the issue and due to low demand of parts, SENT OUT A WHOLE NEW WELDER free of charge to make up for it!! That is not service you find easily in the states! Thanks!
I bought this welder for some small projects. When I un-boxed it I found the wire feed tensioner was broken. The saddle that the knob slides into was snapped off. When I looked at the parts breakdown, I saw that the only way to replace it was to order the entire wire feed assembly eve though it is removed by unscrewing a single screw.
I just wanted to write a letter to let people know that if you order this welder, do NOT expect the instructions for assembly to be legible. The pictures in the instructions are just a black blob that defy use. I put them under a magnifier and florescent light to try to see what they were trying to show me, but could not make out the image. If not for the web site here having the ability to download the instructions I would have been stranded. but on the computer they are legible. So as I put the thing together which is pretty simple once you've done it once. I think I figur5ed out where the little spring goes, but cannot be for sure since the spring is not shown in the parts breakout. But I think it goes under the nut that holds the spool down. At least that's where I put it and it seems to belong there. I have not tried to weld with the thing yet. I am gonna get a piece of metal to practice with since I haven't welded in years, and that was with a stick welder, so this will be new for me. That's why I bought this one to play with before I spent hundreds on a better one. But if this one does what it says, then I will be happy. I just need to be able to fix broken stuff around the farm.
Tried a practice weld on scrap, then tried to break the joint (exhaust pipe) and couldn't. Stunning. Then tried a shock mount modification. Bevelled the joint and by the time I moved to the backside, this thing layed down a near perfect bead. Now to learn how to really use it. My buddy gave me a few tips that will help overcome the lack of adjustment. This could well be all the electric welder I'll need. Plus it fits on the lower shelf of my shop cart. Can't ask for more than that, especially when considering the cost.
I bought this about a week ago it got to my house in 2 days which was awesome. Its a nice simple system to set up, it can weld up to about 3/8 steel no problem and actually makes some pretty respectable welds. But the downside is you have to watch where you put the gun down because the wire will spark on steel with just a slight touch to it. The mask that comes with this set up is comepletly unsafe its not meant for mig welding, and on top of that it doesnt sit on your face you have to hold it there with your other hand which isnt recommended at all for actually welding its more of an observation mask that tech school teachers use to observe the students welding ability with an oxy acetalene torch holding a mask to your face while doing any kind of welding is a no go, which brings up the the more unsafe part of the mask, the dark lexan lenses are not close to dark enough for mig welding if you can see through the lenses during the day its not to be used for any wleding other than oxy acetalene welding. You will risk damaging your eye sight permanently while wearing this. So I gave it 3 stars the system is good and easy to use and makes respectable welds but the mask that is sent with is a cheap and very unsafe insert lense mask, long story short pay the 30$ on the side for an auto dark mask from harbor freight after buying this.
I bought it and didn't get but maybe 10 minutes of use out of it and it won't feed wire no more I've replaced a few things and still same issues otherwise was doing great
I bought a year ago finally used it and first time I use it Quits working 10 mins in and jegs won't honor it because I bought it a year and 20 days ago
