This movie was a great rendition of the original cartoon Jem show, which had so many elements. I wish they would make more. The 80s nostalgia hit the spot, this was one of my favorite shows, and now one of my favorite movies.

To my surprise...
I have to admit I was skeptical about the Jem movie. From all of the bad things I heard about it, I was sure it would be bad. I bought it anyway when the dvd was released and, to my surprise, it was a really good, light hearted movie. Definitely underserving of the negativity it had received. There's a lot of differences in the storyline compared to the cartoon, but I understand it had to be modernized for a new generation of fans. Even with the changes, one can see and feel the original personality of the characters shining through in their new form. A big reason the original Jem cartoon was so memorable was the music. The soundtrack to the movie is incredible and in my opinion, one of the best soundtracks in a very long time. I urge anyone and everyone to check this soundtrack out. Unfortunately, I believe it's in digital only. I bought mine on iTunes.

It isn't like the cartoon I grew up watching. It's more like Hannah Montana. However my three girls enjoyed it and are hoping for a second
