New Jenga game keeps you on your toes and doesn't

PSA2 August 29, 2015

I received this as a part of the Walmart Sparks review team. I have played regular Jenga in the past. I liked the older version of Jenga but admit it was rather redundant and could get boring after playing a few times...seems everyone had a strategy for removal of the blocks so every game seemed to follow a pattern. This version has a shaking element that is RANDOM, so forget trying the same old tried and true strategies . Finally, a game that every play is different! The game does require 3 batteries that are not included in the game , but for the small additional cost of batteries you get a game that is going to hold interest and be exciting for a LONG time. The added shake factor is what makes this game a winner. Don't be fooled into thinking the shake factor is just a simple little twist though...the shake intensity changes and does not follow a pattern...it's RANDOM, which keeps the players on their toes and evens the play field for less experienced players. Kids can play with each other, kids can play adults, adults can play adults...this game covers all the bases and is fun and exciting for everyone. The blocks are not wooden like the old Jenga, they are a colored* orange, gray and darker gray* hollow plastic( weight is greatly reduced making the shake element a major component of game play) and the shake element does go from light shaking to a major full out tear 'em down shake that will level the blocks , but being as it is completely random no-one knows when the "big one" will hit, which adds to the level of fun in my opinion. As I understand it, if the tower topples on your turn( regardless of if you removed a block or not) then you lose...which seriously cuts down on those players who 'take forever' choosing a block to remove. Nothing worse than waiting 'forever' for the opponent to make his/her move . This game MOVES...literally( pun intended) so if you stall in taking your move and 'the big one ' hits...you might just lose , so make your move and hope it's still standing tall! I am happy to add this game to our family's collection and am feeling really pumped that it won't be a 'one and done' game...I see many Jenga games being played with this one.

Super fun for all ages!!

If you are a fan of Jenga or even if you have never played the game you will enjoy this version of the classic game. It is different than the original to add a twist for seasoned players and new players will enjoy it as well. The twist to the game is the base randomly vibrates causing the stack to move and shift. The duration of the quakes also varies so if it starts vibrating you never know how long it will last. Sometimes the quakes help you by showing you a loose piece that is easily removed, other times the quakes make things difficult by shifting the tower and in extreme cases causing it to fall. The auto off feature of the base is nice because kids don't always remember to turn off their games. Also the game is easy to store in the original box. Overall I think this game is a huge win. We had players ranging from 10 to 40 and everyone liked it a lot.

If you love Jenga, this is an interesting twist

Loxz September 7, 2015

This game came packaged in a box with two other games to review. One was damaged but this box was not. The unit was in good working order upon arrival and setup. Contents of the box: Tower Base Information sheet 36 colored plastic blocks The blocks come in four different colors. Two different shades of orange and then two different grays. They are made of plastic and they're not smooth like your standard Jenga blocks. They have a chipped off edge to them resembling slightly worn/damaged bricks. The blocks themselves are lightweight and level like your standard block. The quality is decent. I am very pleased with the construction of this product. This game is basically your standard Jenga game but with an interesting twist. The tower base unit randomly shakes the tower on its own. After each player takes their turn they must wait 5 seconds before someone else takes theirs. If the tower falls before the 5 second timer, that player loses the game and must rebuilt the tower. Stated in the manual: If the tower falls in the brief time between the player's turns, the first player rebuilds the tower and the game continues with no penalty to either player. The unit has a 10 minute inactivity timer and will turn itself off. You can turn it off manually by pressing and holding the power button for two seconds. I highly recommend this product. It's very easy to setup and play. It is suspenseful, and potentially very addictive with the right crowd. Alone, this would be fun as well for a quick challenge fix. I think it is very much worth the price, whatever it is. I think you could also reuse the blocks as building blocks if you really wanted to as well. The only thing I wish that this included was a timer for 5 seconds. For me, it's a bit difficult to keep track of the 5 seconds while watching the tower. I suppose you could have someone be designated as the timer person/referee. Buy it! You wont regret it!

Always a good game!

I have always loved this game and the original game I haved played extensively to the point that the game I had was literally worn out. I was planning on getting a new game of Jenga eventually but probably would not have purchased this version. It is highly addicitive just like the original version and you can't play just one game yet with a certain twist literally. It twists and turns and there are quakes that are on the higher end of the Richter Scale, quote, unquote. This will be a well played game. I love the colors ,the orange is almmost flourescent and I love flourescent colors. It is soo easy to set up, there are not as many levels of playing blocks as regular Jenga, but this game is not played to see how many levels you can reach but for the tower to still be standing after your turn and five seconds have elapsed and the quake or tremor didn't hit that shake the tower to collapse or if it still stands it won't automatically be taken out with each quake which makes it more exciting to watch what happens. There is no set pattern so it is guesswork when the the tremors will hit and you cannot predict when they will occur.

Fun variation on a classic game

LeakyLizzy September 9, 2015

Jenga Quake Game My children were both always big fans of the Jenga game, so were anxious to give the new Jenga Quake Game a try. The box is colorful, and looks like there has been a lava explosion. Note that the game DOES take batteries - three AA size. This powers the quake effect of the game. There is a good part of that though - it will automatically go into "sleep mode" after ten minutes of non-use, so the drain on the batteries will not be totally endless. It is always best to turn the game off when you are done, of course. The game consists of the base you build on (instead of a table or floor like the regular Jenga game) and thirty-six (36) plastic oblong blocks in colors of orange and grays. The blocks are NOT wooden in this game - they are plastic, so they are lightweight enough to be moved by the quake base. The game play is pretty much standard stuff - stack the blocks by sets of three, alternating the direction of the blocks. You take turns removing a block and stacking it on the top. What makes this game different is that there is the element of random "quakes". The base will shake, and depending on how strong the shake is, will either move the stack a little bit or knock it all down. There is a red light that lights up when a quake goes off (apparently so you know the difference between the quake and someone kicking the table!). There is a red plastic piece that mimics a Richter scale when it shakes. There is no particular pattern that we were able to discern as far as which quakes came when in any order. Sometimes, it was a small vibration, sometimes stronger, and many times a complete shaking that knocked everything over. But, I have to admit that I wasn't really writing anything down either! Both kids enjoyed the game and played it for a few hours on the first run. Overall, while it is almost all plastic, it is still a fun game that any Jenga fan should enjoy playing. It is a nice element of uncertainty for even the best Jenga expert when you never know when or how strong a "quake" is going to be. Enjoyed the game a lot!

a quaking shaking wall of fun

flaime September 15, 2015

The jenga quake game is a lot of earth shaking fun. Amid squeals of su0rise and bouts of laughter there a lot of fun and bonding going on. I have always thought that the original jenga was very boring. This new jenga mixes suspense and fun together for an exciting night. Jenga quake comes with thirty six blocks both grey and ornge.,quake base, and instructions. The jenga quake game operates on two double a batteries. To turn on the quake base press down on the button located on the right hand side the red light will turn on. To turns off the quake base press down on the same button. The red light will turn off. My advice is to keep the box it comes in to store the blocks and quake base, also the instructions are printed on the back of the box. This way if you loose the sheet of instructions that come in the box you have a copy. Have a great time playing jenga quake. It is well worth the money.

I have a new game I love & this is it!

If you're a fan of the classic Jenga game, you may like this one. I did. This version has a brand new twist to it, almost literally. Can you fight the law of gravity and the vibrating quakes this game puts out? As with the classic Jenga, you'll take turns pulling out the blocks one by one and be the one to do so before the tower collapses. Only problem here is that the tower vibrates randomly as you play, and you never know when the big one's going to hit! Is your hand steady enough to pull out the last block before the tower collapses? Will you do it before the big quake takes the whole stack down? That's the only way you can win at Jenga! The box back says, “ATTENTION: You are entering the Jenga Fault Zone! And it's fun. 1) Build the Tower. 2) Press the button to start. Watch as the tower quakes. 3) Take Turns as the tower vibrates randomly. 4) Hurry! You never know when the big one's gonna to hit.” This game requires (3) AA batteries, which are not included. For ages 6 and up. For one plus player. Want to vary a boring night? May I suggest Jenga Quake? I love this game. It definitely isn't boring. Includes 36 orange and gray Jenga blocks, base and instructions Disclaimer: I received this game in the Spark Reviewer program in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was a great addition to our family game night! I enjoyed this product very much. Very safe item. Love the way it is packaged. Definitely a fun game that is easy to follow instructions and fun to play. Love the added twist to the old Jenga! Made it even more of a thrill while playing. Definitely would recommend this item.

A Game for All Ages

Mosiah September 26, 2015

Jenga has been a game that has been around for a long time. Jenga Quake has added a new twist in that the base will vibrate every so often to add to the possibility of causing the pieces to fall. The vibrations (quaking) happens at uneven intervals and sometimes quakes for only a second where other quakes last longer. This adds to the suspense as to when the tower will fall. When the “quake” happens it vibrates the base, causing the whole tower to slightly rotate. In preparing to play the game, you will find the pieces are easier to stack in this version than in the original Jenga as they are plastic instead of wood and are shaped more like uneven rocks instead of smooth wood pieces. Also the stack isn't as high. The original version took more skill to safely remove individual blocks and not cause the tower to fall. As this tower is more stable, we found even a 4-year old could play Jenga Quake. Therefore this version can be played from young to old participants. It does not require as steady of a hand as the original Jenga. However, if you want more of a challenge, then I would recommend the original version.

fun not included

thechiegrandpa September 9, 2015

I guess this game was meant to be something more challenging than the original Jenga game. After opening the box and finding that the pieces were all plastic instead of the original wood, was a letdown, but we forged on anyway. You will need to open the base and insert your 3 AA Batteries and do your best not to hit the "on" switch. Once the "on" switch is turned on the game starts and the base is what shakes. The base will not stay in one place without the blocks on it when it shakes, and barely does so with all of what little weight is added with the plastic blocks. Had to wait approx. 10 minutes for the base to turn itself off since the "on" switch is only an "on" switch and there is no "off" switch. Having no "off" switch has 2 drawbacks, #1 being that approx. every 10 minutes you would need to turn the game back on. That would be the case if the shaking did not shake the plastic blocks enough to move them far too much to where they lasted until the first shake, or we got lucky 1 time and it remained standing until the second shake to knock all of them down. #2 being that when you are done with the game, wait 10 more minutes for the game to turn itself off or get your screwdriver back out to open the base and remove the batteries. The game would have been interesting if the blocks were the original wood or the plastic ones had a bit more weight to them to hold up to the shaking. We did get 1 bit of entertainment from the game... it came from reading the back of the box (see pictures) and the statement made just below the pictures. The only smile that came from game night with that game!!
