I am an Oyster gardener in Va and we raise over 2 million oysters a year. We lift wire cages full of oysters from the water into our boats and we use the Jib Crane to do this -we have added a 12 volt winch to the Jib crane and it lifts the cages of oysters and we can swivel the cage forward or aft to sit it on the deck - my co-workers love it because of easy use - in fact we have just purchased our second Vestil Galvanized Jib Crane for a new boat we are rigging up for our oyster business. My competitors are using a similar system that costs 3 times the amount I paid for mine and theirs is not galvanized for salt water work!!
This crane is the real deal - you will not be disappointed. I have the unit mounted on the rear corner of a flat bed truck used for moving beehives and honey supers. This eliminates having to trailer a forklift to smaller hive location sites. Great value !!
We purchased this in conjunction with a gantry crane and it took a little while to receive it from the continent to our Maui Shop. I purchased this for a professional who is intending to install in onto his Ford F350 Utility Bed Truck to enable the mobilizing equipment onsite where no forklift trucks are available. We're completing satisfied with the sturdy construction of this unit.
Works great lifting all types of equipment. Easy to maneuver. Used daily holds up well. Very sturdy and would recommend to anyone needing to lift heavy equipment for jobs.
Nicely built. Works as advertised. Heavy, might need a little help handling when bolting to the base.
I have not yet installed the crane on my truck, but purchased it after seeing one installed on a friend's truck, and he loved it. I'll need to move or modify the rack on my truck to allow room for the crane to swivel, and will need to make a base plate that can bolt through the truck bed to the frame. The only disappointment was the lack of better installation instructions. I know each truck is different, but it would have helped if there were at lease some dimensions showing the clearances required for proper operation. This is going to be a "trial and error" operation to make it all fit, and I am booked with other projects until next month, when I hope to install it. May update the review at that time.
This is a workmanlike (i.e. not yacht level finish) crane that looks like it will do the job although we've only tested it on 200 lb loads. The design is good, and I liked how the crane dropped into the base - this allowed easier assembly. Only demerit is that the wire rope is very stiff and you have to keep the crane loaded a bit to make it roll smoothly on the drum - I plan to replace the wire rope with some strong 1/4 " low stretch rope.
Worked perfect for the application I had. Fortunately the hoist could be easily taken apart in to pieces that can be lifted by hand and then re-assemble where I mounted it. Only fault I saw was it started to rust quickly in a couple of places but I touched those up immediately with cold galvanizing paint and that stopped the rusting.
The lift is just as handy as advertised. No instructions but intuitive in design. My neighbor helped a lot by building the base, estimating the weight, and putting the pieces together. We greased the hydraulic cylinder to prevent rust. The main item was to put lots of grease into the mount to ward off water and provide a lasting swivel. I enjoy the ease of lifting. Looks to be made rust resistant.
Seems to be very well built, anxious to see how it holds up with normal use and how good the bearings are where it turns.
