i bought this thinking it would fit my hydroponics system but the pods are a little too big. However it was perfect for starting my dwarf sunflower seedlings.
These work really well! I admit this was my first time buying this type of product and this specific brand. These are easy to setup, and within about 5-7 days I saw the germination process take hold. I planted things like corn, cucumbers and garden beans etc. so far so good, this is a easy way to start plants or grow your seedlings before transplanting during winter season or like myself and you live in a very cold climate. I will be using a grow light until the frost clears but for the first couple to 3 weeks you don’t need any light so I got a couple more weeks to go. Just make sure you keep them covered and in a warm location. Follow directions exactly and make sure you empty excess water and just sit back and watch the growing take place.
I used these years ago, it's a great jump start on veggies and fruit to get them in the ground when the weather breaks in spring. Put seeds in , water, and place in sunny window with clear lid on to start plants. They're easy to plant outside then just lift plant out and put outside in garden.
The Jiffy cell has easy instructions to understand. I planted my seeds April 1st and I already have new growth. I'm excited to see what my plants will produce for me this summer. I highly recommend the Jiffy Cell
Jiffy continues to make a reliable product. I always disolve a little mosquito dunk in the water I use in the initial soak to prepare the cells for planting seeds. This really helps prevent gnats . The cells are a good size for larger seeds ,like cucumbers, squash or melons, or larger flower seeds like four oclocks or hollyhocks. Of course, the dome helps create the humid "greenhouse," making it easier for seeds to germinate .
These peat pods are the best. Good expansion and water absorption. Bigger size is great for seedlings they get big faster. Saves you from repotting multiple times before transplanting. The all in one kit makes seed starting easy.
What I love about this product is it's already to go. It has a plastic Dome over the top which really helps the seeds get started. I've always had so much luck with this product and that's why I keep coming back to it year after year.
Everything that comes with the kit is great, but then you put on the lid and it doesn't fit like it should. Two or three sides line up fine but when you put in the fourth corner, there are massive openings, no way to create a greenhouse effect! Very disappointed.
The size of the product is what drew me to it in the first place. I have always used Jiffy pellets to start plants so did not hesitate to purchase. Disappointed in how flimsy the product dome is and how difficult it was to get pellets to expand to full size, used twice the warm water called for in the end to get them to completely get wet and soft. Will be planting vegetables in these so we will see how they do.
i ordered a 25 cell green house for 9.97. but substitute was offered i guess because 25 was sold out, but why is the smaller 16 cell greenhouse the same price?????? seems like a scam
