Who would have thought that I'd be loving Grits at my age but here I am putting under more than butter, I feel like the Bubba Gump of Grits. I had these for the first time 6 years ago after a hospital visit and fell in love with the ease of cooking and flavor, and the price is right(no pun intended) I had a nutritionist tell me that they were just blank calories. Then later attended a Mediterranean cooking class and was told it was a great source of grain. I like the way that sounds and sticking with the Grits. Simple to make , cost effective, and makes breakfast better These are a great product, and a fantastic flavor
I cook mine but add evaporated milk , butter and lemon pepper. They are delicious like this. My late husband cooked them for me years ago this way and I've cooked them this way ever since. Several people I know now do the same. I use 1/4 amt of water to 2/3 evaporated milk. I no longer can eat them just cooked with water. I have but prefer the other way due to such a yummy taste.
Grits are a special kinda food. Either you can or you can't cook them right, like rice (cooking without a rice cooker). Grits are the breakfast side dish, or throw in some shrimp and its the main dish. Grits are to breakfast what rice is to supper (dinner).
Grits they shapeshift into whatever meal you throw at them. Breakfast, lunch, supper, midnight snack. Quick, simple meal that's cheap and taste awesome for what ever you use them with. Cheese grits with eggs and sausage, under fried catfish, even Cajun shrimp %26 grits. I have seen my Grandmother use as a dessert simply adding grits with cinnamon, sugar, and butter. Jim Dandy is a great option for any of these, price is great for the multiple uses. You like rice pudding try using grits for a smoother dish.
All grits are not the same. Jim Dandy has its own trademark. The texture of the grit is more grit like—coarse and bold. Unlike some other brands that I've eaten, Jim Dandy is the grit I prefer. Easy to prepare, with cheese, bacon bits, added margarine, etc., and you save money with the 32 oz. bag.
These cook fast and come out just the way quick grits should. Good texture, easy to make, and a nice pantry staple if you eat grits regularly. Simple, filling, and no nonsense.
I hope people are not leaving false reviews on these grits.. the truth being told is that the grits taste better than most other brands.. you must know how to boil and stir the grits and you just can't over-boil grits.. Jim Daddy has been my favorite brand for over 10 years.. Great quality and the taste is great as long as you do not over-boil your grits and they can't be watery grits... I boil my grits just right and my family like the brand and like how I boil grits.. They like the taste as much as I do..I feel so happy..
Good for any product
