Joey Feek - If Not For You (Zinepak) - Music & Performance - CD

First of all, full disclosure: I actually own the original version of this album, which was only available online in the Joey & Rory Store. I have loved this couple and everything about them since I first heard their music. They have produced a total of seven albums together before Joey's untimely death in March 2016 (cancer). Before they started performing together, Joey (Martin) recorded this album under the title "Strong Enough to Cry". Unfortunately, the album was never released by the label UNTIL NOW!! Definitely go out and buy it, if you're a fan of real country music and not the Top 40 stuff that passes for "country" these days. While you're at it, look for other Joey and Rory albums; Walmart still carries some of them. Of interest to those who are already fans of this super couple: This album includes an earlier recording of "That's Important to Me" (J&R's signature song). The instrumental is different, and without Rory's harmonies it just doesn't sound as good, but it's still a pleasure to hear. Also on the album is the first song that Joey and Rory ever wrote together, "Nothing to Remember". It's based on the story of how they first met; a beautiful song which they have sung together on their show a time or two. But most touching, I suppose, is "See You There", the story of Joey's brother and his tragic death at such a young age. I have no doubt that Joey and Justin Martin are having a wonderful reunion on the other side. I have to say, though, that my favorite track is the first song, "Strong Enough to Cry". One disappointment with the album was that Rory doesn't sing at all on it, although he did produce it and his daughter Heidi sings background vocals, like she has done on all of their music. But definitely go buy it!!
