Series is very entertaining. Has all that you would want in a show. Romance, comedy, but most of all lost of ACTION! Fast paced, a must see.
I ordered it because I LOVE JJBA, but don't have a Blu-ray player for the blu-rays. I saw people complaining about it cause the menus are super simple and the picture quality of the episodes wasn't great, but when I got it and watched it, the quality just looked like any other anime dvd I have. The menus are simple, but it gets the job done if you just want to watch JJBA anytime without internet. For those who may consider purchasing this dvd, here's some details about it: -It comes with BOTH the English and Japanese Dub. -The subtitles are subtitles for the English dub and not the original Japanese. (For the hard of hearing.) So "dubtitles" I guess. -The video quality is in SD, since it's not a HD Blu-ray -The eps were taken off the Japanese Blu-rays so there's no censorship and the art looks better than the TV version did. If you don't have a Blu-ray player or can't afford Blu-rays, don't really mind SD, and don't mind Dubtitles or just watch it for the dub (like me) you should get this dvd. If you can get/afford the Blu-rays however, go for those instead, since Viz themselves put that one out.
Watched this through a streaming service and I am very happy this was released on DVD. Perfect addition to any anime fans collection!
Pick this up if you love action, comedy, or just want a fun story to ride along with. Season one contains the Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency arcs of the JoJo story. Phantom Blood is a relatively fast and serious chunk of the JoJo story. It lays the foundation for the Dio/Joestar rivalry and blazes through a lot of story elements. It sometimes moves too fast for it's own good but it serves its purpose and gets you to the crucial story points that build your bond to the main cast. Battle Tendency on the other hand moves at a perfect pace. It maintains a much more comedic tone while never losing the serious undertones of Phantom Blood. You'll find yourself laughing at an odd situation only to have it end with a gruesome death that leaves you emotionally drained. It's actually one of my personal favorite arcs of the JoJo story because Joseph is just such an awesome character. Jojo is a very odd Anime in the best way possible. Gender rolls are flipped. Women are depicted as normal while the male characters are depicted as fabulous, sexy, and perfect figures who always manage to strike a cool pose. The vibrant art and sometimes childish humor gets combined with some pretty gory and horrific scenarios. Jojo is a truly unique ride that only gets crazier as time goes on. Can't wait for Stardust Crusaders. The only problem I have with this package is that it's not available on Blu Ray format and it's just a let down because DVD always leaves some compression issues in the art and animation. But it still doesn't change how amazing the show actually is.
