My dogs absolutely love this toy. They love that it squeaks while playing tug. It's tough and durable
Lots of fun for both of us! :) Ranger loves his Jolly Tug, and we both get a great work out.
This has lasted through 4 months of hard play with my 75# lab and her cohorts, and finally gave it up this afternoon. Dismemberment didn't stop my girl from continuing to play with the remains, however. She's just frustrated that it won't squeak anymore, now that the ball is gone!
My puppy likes to tug, but will shred and eat anything made with a rope. Since I do not want a large vet bill, I am avoiding anything that looks like he can tear it up into pieces he can swallow. This toy looked like it would fit the bill, so I decided to try it out. Glad I did! The ball in the middle has multiple squeakers, so he can amuse himself by squeaking if he wants to. The squeaking also adds a little fun while we are playing tug. The tug sides are reinforced with a hefty rope so he can't just rip off while we are playing. My dog can get rough while playing tug, but this toy has survived both the pulling in opposite directions and his teeth.
My little pupper loves this toy and so do I. My dog really enjoys the squeaker and keeps him entertained even when I cannot play tug-a-war with him. I really like the durability of the product. Most tug toys are made with some kind of rope and my guy tends to pull them apart within a few days. This is great and he hasn't destroyed it yet. Would highly recommend this toy.
We bought one of these for an 8-month young beagle who loves tugging and chewing. She will catch it, and fetch it, and play tug games and keep-away games with it, but above all she loves to chew on it. First she chews the handles until the rope is accessible, then she removes the rope and chews it to shreds, next she plucks the remains of the handles and proceeds to tear the cover off the ball. We still have lots of fun with the inner plastic ball - we throw it and often she bounces it back to us several times before catching it and beginning the game of keep-away. I'm pretty sure this is not the intended life cycle of this toy (it does not show in the list of recommendations for dogs who are destructive with toys), but it terms of dollar per hour of play time, this is one of the best values in dog toys we have found so far. We are currently working our way through our third Jolly Tug. We also continue to play with the remains of the first one, which we have nicknamed The Terminator because it can't be destroyed and keeps coming back for more. Nobody named Connor lives here, so this Terminator could keep coming back for quite some time!
We got my 8 month old border collie mix the jolly tag, she loves it. However after only a couple of days the rope inside the handle started to twist, and the stitching started to come undone. While I appreciate toys do wear out, I was surprised to find the issues with the internal ropes that appeared to not be attached to anything. And was not surprised the stitching that is starting to come undone. As my baby girl loves it, I will have to get her a new one. Just wish they were a little more durable. I have purchased other toys of similar material and have not had the twisted rope and stitching issue yet
If you have a dog that's a real chewer/tugger I would avoid this one they will grab it and run to a corner and do this in no time flat.
My dog loves his new toy. But it has not held up as a chew toy. After the fist day he made a hole in in it. And by the next week had one of the loops ripped out. Now we are still playing with the toy just it has not held up as long as I thought.
Bought this yesterday. Lasted about 5 minutes tilI I had to take it away, for fear of my dog swallowing the pieces. Very disappointed at the shoddy quality and the fact that you spend so much money on something that's represented as being durable, but obviously not.
