[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This bolus gun works perfect for adult goats, both minis and standards
We have found that the Small Brown Plastic Balling Gun (sc-516159) has been indispensable in administering supplemental mineral bolus to our goats. The small gun was small enough to use on our Nigerian Dwarf goat, but large enough to still be effective on our Boers and Alpines. It's helpful to use a bit of peanut butter in the gun to aid in keeping the bolus in place during administration.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the copper for goats and the balling gun. I received the order quickly. The balling is a little large but I was able to make it work.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice and heavy. A little to big for goats but its possible if your careful. Gotta use peanut butter to hold copper bolus in. Goats love that part. Would reorder again
Easy to use but too big to use with adult copper bolus.i used peanut butter to hold in place.
I bought this to administer the adult size goat copper boluses. It works well. I use a dollup of probiotic paste inside the chamber to hold the bolus in place until I have the gun inserted way down into the back of my goats' throats. This ensures the boluses get swallowed, not chewed or spit onto the ground. While the plastic gun is reusable, if your goats struggle and bite down at all it will get scratched up. So I like to have a few of these on hand as replacements.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I need the small size to dose goat kids. The brown size works fine for Nigerian Dwarf goat kids. I wish it was stainless steel and not plastic as the plastic gets scratched over time. But they are cheap so I just get several at a time.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Administering a bolus to cattle is not an enjoyable task for the cattle or the person administering the dosage. This gun makes the job a lot easier and is easy to use and sturdy enough to complete the job on several head of cattle.
This one is too large for the 4 gm copper bolus for goats....need a small one.
I ordered 2-gram and 4- gram copper boluses for my goats, and a 2-gram bolus applicator gun. This balling gun is easily large enough to deliver 12-20 gram pills. It is NOT made for anything smaller, and it practically choked the goats. The pill fell out i
