I would recommend you buy this before you need it the only reason I ordered it was because all stores were sold out due to covid-19 but I did get it in time to save a few of my fish and it comes with two bottles and you use very little per treatment so it's a good value

Effective Product

RS1992 December 19, 2017

Easy to use, and it works very well. Keep in mind that ick ours only treatable at one point in it's life cycle, so depending on the severity of the infestation some of your fish won't be able to survive, but it well prevent any further infestation by stopping the life cycle.

READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS

N4AOF November 24, 2016

The ONLY reason I gave this product four stars instead of five is because the instructions are printed in rather small print on the back of the bottle. Unfortunately this seems to be common across most ick medications today, I think all the companies have decided to save money on the instructions because the know that most people won't read the instructions anyway. Failing to read the directions is usually the cause for the bad reviews that are common for ALL the ick products available online or in large stores. The days when you had to go to a pet store to buy ick medicine and would usually get a detailed explanation from the people running the store are, of course, long ago. Jungle brand Ick Guard works well, IF (and only if) you read and follow the instructions. Don't dump a whole bottle of Ick Guard into your small fish tank - you need to know how many gallons of water your tank has and you need to measure the correct dose. If you have small or sensitive fish, don't use more than half the regular dose (even that may be too much for very delicate fish, especially since the fish are already weakened by ick and whatever stress caused the ick.) In my 45 gallon community tank with a mix of platties, mollies, swordtails, and small angel fish, I use the regular dose with good results. Be sure to follow the instructions about removing carbon from the filter while using any ick medicine. Carbon (also known as activated charcoal) is the black granular stuff used in almost all fish tank filters. If you have one of the popular modular filters with the replaceable filter elements that have a mesh bag with a plastic frame inside, there is carbon inside that bag (unless you changed the bag and didn't follow their instructions to put carbon in it). Carbon will trap the medication and deactivate it. Repeat treatment after 24 hours if ick is still present. Generally it takes 2-3 days to clear up ick, if you caught it early. Continue treatment for one day after you think all the ick is gone. Ick was almost certainly caused by the fish being stressed by some change such as a change of temperature or changing/adding water. Even with the ick medicine you may still lose some of your fish, due to the ick or due to the stress that caused the ick. When you get rid of the ick, you still need to be sure not to stress the fish again. Get advice from a qualified pet shop or local aquarium club, or get a book from the library about how to care for the kind of fish you have.

Soso

I rated this three stars because my new tetras had ich, I used this for four days and one of the two tetras ended up dying. I'm not sure how sick my tetras were so I didn't think it fair to rate 1 star.. but I will most likely not be using this again
