JVC HARX500 Full-Size Headphones (Silver)

I gave them 5 stars because of the ample cord and capability for loud audio. They are very lightweight and springy (they don't pinch your head.) I only wonder if the thin layer of vinyl over the earpieces might deteriorate quicker than the rest of the unit. Overall, very happy.

I feel they are a bargain for the price and I got them on sale! Also love the almost 11 1/2 foot cord. It comes with two plugs so I can use them on my computer or plug them into my stereo. Very good quality sound for such a cheap price. I use them daily for listening to hard rock music.

I have been using the ear phones for more than one week every day for a minimum of 3hrs listening to audio books . There may be better units out there bur for the type of music I listen to and the voice quality of book readers, these in my opinion are well worth the price. I do especially like the 11' cord and the ear pieces that cover the ear. These do not seam to hurt my ears as the smaller ones have. Oh, the Patsy Cline and Merle Haggard sound great.

I do not know how these would be for an mp3 or unpowered computer. I use these with my computer hooked up through my stereo. It takes awhile for them to get broken in but they get better and better. I got the 2yr warranty because people say they have had problems with them. I handle mine with care hope they last a long time. They are not exact sound replication type headphones but they are like old school headphones that are upgraded and well balanced through all the tone range(not bass heavy but there is plenty there if you want). I think they are awesome so much so that I don't have loudness button on or bass and treble just straight sound reproduction. I can't turn them up enough to get distorted before they hurt my ears. I am not sure you can. Very comfortable by the way.

The JVC HARX500 over the earphone is great for anyone who likes to keep out the noise, and get the full value of the music they are playing. I also appreciate the feature of no pressure on the ear itself, big difference between this JVC over the ear, and any on the earphones....aaaahhh.

I went around for about 2 weeks looking for a good pair of headphones. Let me tell you many of these headphones out on the market especially the top of the line "Beats" have very good sound, However what I was looking for was a headphones with quality sound yet one which I could where for a very long time. Most headphones start pinching your head after about 1 hour especially the "Beats". I would take these headphones over the most expensive "Beats". I hooked up an equalizer and I was surprised how I could precisely tailor the Mids , High and Bass. I like these so much that I added the Walmart Warranty. The best thing to do is to go out to stores and bring your own music and try out all the different model head phone. WOW! for me these are the best headphones I have compared to my $400 Beats. Yea! WoW! AAAAAAAA++++++

First I bought the JVC HARX700 as the reviews were very good, the set looked comfortable and the sale price put it at around 32 bucks. I was pleased with the sound. A few weeks later I became curious and tried the 900. The sound was sooooooo much cleaner, less distortion-just like comparing a great receiver to an average one. The music sounds much better with less noise, so much less noise that you can play it louder and it won't bother your ears. The 700 is good and a great deal but the 900 is really worth it and still a great price at Walmart. Oh, and one more thing, when I first tried the 900 to hear the difference it didn't hit me right away technically speaking, but the music was so much better that I first noticed I was smiling with the 900 set on - that's when I realized this was a really great set !!! If it makes you smile before you know it - buy it !!!

I was looking for some headphone to replace my broken (but still working) Sony MD-700? model which were on point. They have a high frequency response, but these seem to match it in clarity. I started with the lower model HARX700 and they were great, but then I figure before my 30 days are up, I might return those and get the highest model. I did this after tracking down reviews where people said there was a very clear difference between the 900 and 700. Like many have written, you have to break them in before you hear the true sound that makes you a believer. Upon first hearing them, I thought that these were WORSE than the 700, but I gave it time by listening to everything and all ranges of sounds. After a while, they opened up after having sounded stiff and cheap. After a while longer, the detail came out as well as more subtle bass definition. To put it short, the 900 has deeper and clearer bass lines, cleaner highs and more instrument separation. Just looking at the specs alone, it is hard to get a read on what would make them better, but since they are twice the price, something must have been better. Of course these are vented and there is a leather or leather-like headband. JVC was always known to give you the best for less. I used to buy JVC TV's over Sony because the quality was better and you got more for your money. This is one reason JVC does not make too many models of items because they just give you a smaller range of better quality. They do not offer as many products as they used to in 90's and 2000's, but they are still quality.

I replaced a smaller head set with a mic with this over the ear set. I use a head set to listen to music when I am on my computer which some times is for hours at a time. The Good is The sound is very good and very clear. The Price makes a good sounding headphone a Great Value. It takes higher volume in stride with no distortion. The reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 was the headphones when worn for a long time are not as comfortable as I thought it would be, but very exceptable. nice very long cord and fits both computer sound cards and full size Stereo jacks that is a nice feature. Over all I recommend these headphones

These headphones will never be considered "great", but for the price, they're also about as good as you'll find. These replaced a very long in the tooth pair of Sony MDR-V150's that were broken, and the HA-RX500's actually seem to be better built. As far as sound quality goes, these have great bass, they're a bit lacking in the mids (kind of muddy), and the they have good highs. Compared to the MDR-V150's, the overall sound quality isn't quite as good, but the bass is much better. If you're a "bass head", these should please you. Overall, as I said in the beginning, they're not "great", but you'll have a hard time finding anything better for the price.
