I bought it a couple of years ago it works great. I bought it for my business because I've used these machines for years at my regular job of 37 years.
Love this machine. We used to have a big and bulky drum machine from the 1960's that finally needed replaced. Was thinking of another drum machine until a mechanical company recommended this one and it was most definitely the right choice. This machine is light weight and easy to move around and load in the van. Easy to use and powerful on clogs. Awesome machine.
I love this machine it works well. It always gets me out of a jam.
Actually just used it on a root job. This machine made easy work of a tough job, first pass punching through the blockage and tearing out roots, after changing cutter passed again. Camera showed what a excellent job it did. I always rely on RIDGID for my drain equipment and it never lets me down. Tough long lasting machines. Thanks RIDGID
I have been using a K-1500B frame for 21 years and recently purchased a K1500A frame for the ease of transport feature for a cable carrier, we have been using it for a couple months now and each have their best usage scenario but we are an even split between the two machines now. If this machine holds up like the B frame we have then I have no doubt it will pay for itself many times over like the last machine.
I am a Journeyman Plumber and I have used this machine for 17 years. It is hands down the toughest most durable system I have ever tried. I have also trained many apprentices to use it with little issue. After you learn the feel you can open almost any drain 3" and up. I have also been able to rod as far as 300ft and still had enough torque to clear tree roots in an 8" clay tile sewer. I would not hesitate to put this machine on every truck in my fleet!
I've used several sewer & drain cleaning I prefer the ridgid 1500 for sewers up to 120 feet. I prefer the ridgid k50 for small 1.5 lines to 2 inch up to 60 feet. These 2 machines are the best there is east to get in and out of homes especially deep basements they are durable easy to clean up after use and strong enough to get through the toughest blockages. Because how good the rod machines are & pipe wrenches plus my father swore by ridgid rod machines & wrenches I have used now since 1990 I switch from being a lifetime user of Milwaukee and Dewalt power tools to all ridgid power tools & battery power tools I just bought this awesome 3 piece tool box set for all my ridgid tools it was cheaper price wise than competitors but just as durable with all the features I am forever a ridgid tool man like my father before me here's a pic of the 3 piece tool backs with job site radio I even talk about ridgid tools on my social media accounts & about to do how to videos on TikTok using ridgid tools keep making awesome products I'll keep buying them maybe 1 day I could get a few of those awesome sweat shirts and merchandise lol
My grandpa taught me the business on this brand and style ranging from the kollman "A" frame or the speedy kleen up to the 1 horse k 1500 SP b style and if you don't like this machine you're probably comfortable using the inferior toys that are offered. This machine is perfect for every day all day use. Simple to rebuild, takes a beating and don't skip a beat. If I had to pick one and throw the rest away, take it from a guy with 10 plus years of drain cleaning experience...this is the one. Hands down. Love this machine.
This machine is the only snaking machine i would use. It's easy to use and If you can't blow threw the roots with this machine the sewer needs dug up. The only thing I wish they had where stronger cables or a safety chain in the middle of them so if they do break you can still have a chance to pull them out
After waiting 2.5 months for the k-1500 sp-b to be shipped, we were very disappointed by the performance of this machine. We have used MANY drain cleaning machines before. Our 8 year old k-1500 drain cleaner had much more power than this. Problems: 1) The rear guide hose is too short. As we pull our snake back, we have to be very careful not to retract the snake fully. Otherwise, the snake would scratch floors/carpets at the other end of the hose. We have encountered many problems when working in tight areas where you have no choice but to retract the snake fully. 2) You can easily pull the snake out while running the machine. This is a major issue when you have the lever pulled down and you can still pull the snake forward. In commercial buildings that have long building drains, you will need to run your snake further than most residential homes. If you can easily pull the snake forward with the machine running (with the lever down), you can easily lose your snakes in the drain. 3) The k-1500 sp-b is rated to snake up to 30o feet. Both my business partner and I have noticed there is a lot less torque than our 8 year old k-1500 (snakes up to 200 feet max). The difference is very noticeable. I would have recommended this machine in the past, but things have gone down hill with Ridgid. They just don't make them like they used to.
