This KAIWEETS KC200D digital clamp meter is very good quality and covers the basics well. The size is smaller than many clamp meters, and the build quality feels solid, with a nice round jaw that makes it easier to clamp around thick cables without the huge opening that is typical of regular clamp meters.
The functionality is good for general DIY use, including household and automotive work. The round jaw fits car battery cables and outdoor AC wiring nicely, and the capacitance measurement works well for common DIY AC troubleshooting.
The LCD display is easy to read, and the ease of use is excellent because the meter is simple to operate. Most dial function positions have only 2 options -- for example, AC or DC current, AC or DC voltage, diode or continuity, resistance or capacitance, etc. These limited choices make it very simple to use. Some meters do too much and you have to think about how to set the meter to make the reading you want. Not this one, it's really simple and therefore fast to use.
There are a few limitations to note. The diode test is visual only, which slows down junction testing on transistors compared to a beeping readout, and the meter does not offer inrush measurement. Also, the battery compartment uses a machine screw that is not attached to the door, so you have to be careful not to lose it when changing batteries. FYI -- two AAA batteries are included, although they are basic heavy-duty batteries.
The value is strong because the meter is simple, reliable, and well suited to typical DIY or general technician needs. Unless you specifically need inrush measurement, this is a solid choice that I use often. I own a number of clamp meters, and unless I need to take inrush measurement, this meter is my favorite one.
4 stars — definitely recommend unless you need inrush measurement capability.
