Read a lot of positive reviews before purchasing. Debated whether to spend this much money on a grill, but after a few months decided to pull the trigger. Went with the Kamado Joe because of the advanced features like the counterbalance hinge and the oven type gasket. I have to admit that I love the Red color as well. This grill arrived well packaged, is solidly built, and was easy to assemble. Look forward to many years of outdoor cooking.
Everything cooked very well and the flavor was outstanding!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned my Kamado Joe for 10 years, and it has become much more than just a grill—it's part of our family's daily life. I use it constantly for everything from slow-smoked ribs to quick weeknight meals, and it has never let me down. But the moment that truly proved its value came after Hurricane Helene, when we lost power for an entire week. While neighbors scrambled to make do, my Kamado Joe became our kitchen. I was able to cook hot, delicious meals—everything from simple grilled chicken to hearty stews using what we could salvage from our fridge—which not only kept my family fed, but also lifted our spirits during a very tough time. Owning a Kamado Joe has meant 10 years of incredible meals, memories around the table, and even a lifeline when we needed it most. It's built to last, and I can't imagine cooking without it.
Surprised my husband with the Kamado joe II for Christmas and he absolutely LOVES IT! Making the best food and enjoying learning how to use all the accessories. He even took one of the cooking classes Kamado joe offered online, he continues to be inspired!
I've had a Big Joe 3 for several years and love it. It's the best. But for smaller cooks the Classic 2 made sense to me. Same great quality just smaller. They make a great pair. Griling/smoking is one my very favorite things to do. Usually at least 3-4 times a week. It only makes sense for me to use the very best equipment. Thanks KJ!
Searched everywhere for this Kamado, and couldn't find it anywhere. (Except a few retailers who wanted double the price.). I was surprised to find Walmart not only had it in stock, but also shipped it very quickly. Item arrived in perfect condition and its exactly what I hoped for.
Everything we hoped and expected. Phenomenal product, works exactly as advertised. Everything that we've cooked/smoked/grilled has turned out absolutely amazing. Minor defects in paint (chips), likely due to shipping. Difficult to obtain the paint to repair.
We have loved using our Classic II. The taste of the food has been fabulous and we are enjoying the process. No complaints other than the heat deflector plate melted to the side tray when we took it off. We didn't see anywhere that said not to put it on the side tray.
I owned a large Big Green Egg for years. Unfortunately, the movers would not move when I moved out of state. It gave me many years of really good barbecue with enough space to fit 3 Boston Butt roasts. My major complaint was the weight. Even with the top removed, it took two strong people to lift it. I really like the removable fire box with the Classic Joe. With the firebox removed, the Joe is an easy two-person lift. The ash tray makes emptying ash easy. The manual is almost worthless in using the Joe since it basically just covers assembly in multiple languages. It doesn't even tell you how to light it. You need to buy someone's Joe cookbook to cook with it. After that, it produces some really tasty barbecue! I have smoked two Boston Butts and a set of pork ribs that are excellent.
I bought this for my boyfriend's 30th birthday to reignite his passion for cooking, and I'm so glad I did. He uses it EVERY weekend, rain or shine (or snow…we live in Canada). Temperature regulation is super easy, and cooking is a breeze. Only reason I gave this product 4-stars instead of 5 is because the mesh gasket on the Joe was damaged upon delivery. However, when I contacted Customer Service, they were super helpful and were able to send me a replacement for the damaged part right away. We fixed it ourselves and have been using it consistently ever since!
