Due to back pain I needed something to help with weeds that just won't go away (😂). I love this, no strain when getting weeds out.
Ok, I haven't used it yet, but there wasn't hole drilled in the handle to attach the head. So, I have to get e really small drill bit and then attach the tool to the handle, and then I can use it. If the handle is made of bamboo, then that's good. It doesn't seem really sturdy, kinda small, but I will see if it works.
It was not as easy to use as described. The terminology was not in plain English, so it was hard to understand. Where the ground was moist, it worked pretty well. Once I figured out how the lever worked on the side, but where the soil was hard it doesn't work at all.
It was cheaply built. i only got half way through my front yard before the fork end started separating from the handle and the two part handel that screws on also stripped
this tool worked ok for a day then the handle broke. the handle was too cheap and and well this item is made for easier root tasks. and well i hated that i had to pull off the weeds with my hand. which was an inconvenience every time. you get what you pay for. had to toss it in the trash because it was too cheap and handle is very weak
the Beast that picks the weeds works great but the handle is poorly made and weak and brakes on the first try so I replaced it with a galvanized piece of pipe I had to fit in the hole of the tool and it works great
It fell apart after 1 day's use. The screw holding the tool head to the bottom third part of the shaft broke in half so I had to try to find a small screw to reattach it. Also the 3 piece design of the shaft seems cool but it also broke apart and you just cant tighten it any more as the screw bores out it's hole bigger and bigger as you use it and then it fell apart. I should have spent a bit more and got a solid shaft. I did not put much pressure on it. You don't use it like a hoe, digging in the earth. Just step and pull back with very little force and out comes the weed. But it still fell apart after about 40 weeds.
The wood handle is very flimsy, it doesn't really tighten. The weed part has to be right over the middle of the weed itself otherwise it won't work. It doesn't work if you're trying to get a weed that's in grass or hard dirt. The metal claw thing actually broke.
This is the worst excuse for a working tool that I have ever seen. Handle is three pieces of light wood that screw into each other with metal sleeves holding them together. You can't tighten them too much or the wood starts cracking and breaks. The head is too small to do much damage to the weed, it cuts the root off near the surface allowing the weed to grow back very quickly. The lever is off set and forces you to try to step down sideways so you can't get any leverage or depth. Had to use duct tape to secure the handle and head and the handle will bend whenever you use it. A total piece of dodo. Don't waste your time or money. A worthless product.
To get the root of the weed out, it is necessary to twist the pole around the root. Just putting it in over the weed and tilting the pole, breaks the root off -leaving it to regrow. The pole screws together so it can losen at those joints from twisting. Plus, twisting is difficult especially in established soil. The weed needs to be removed by hand. Right idea, inexpensive but not effective for the physical effort involved. A pole with a handle making it easier to twist and weed release mechanism is worth the extra cost and reduced frustration.
