This used to be our family's favorite cereal and would go through 3 boxes a week. The box and recipe changed recently, and it is not good. The texture is much more chewy like eating paper, the chocolate flavor is much more muted, and the first ingredient is now soy which I am less confident in for health vs oats. I won't be buying this anymore
Agree with many many others. No idea what they were thinking but clearly they have changed the recipe and markedly reduced the chocolate flavor. Tastes like crunch cardboard. If anyone reads these reviews please please go back to your previous formulation, or at least do something to actually create a chocolate taste.
This cereal has gone from rich chocolate flavor with a tender crispy crunch to flavorless. The texture is tough, stale and hard. Same thing has happened to the berry, cinnamon and peanut butter flavors. I was a regular buyer of all of these but this will be my last purchase.
I'm sooo sad! This cereal has been a daily snack that I look forward to. I noticed the most recent box I bought liked different. I thought it was just some rebranding of the package but it seems to be more than that. The taste has greatly declined. It is so bland and does taste like cardboard now. Also, the increased fiber and change in ingredients wrecks my digestive system! Embarassing, smelly, uncontrollable gas. This was my daily afternoon snack at work but there is no way I can eat this stuff! I tried it twice. I'm going to have to toss out the rest of this expensive box of cereal and say goodbye to the best part of my work day. :( I would be thrilled if we could, somehow, get the previous formula back!
This used to be my FAVORITE cereal. I was eating it every day. But the new formula tastes really bad. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD RECIPE! For now, I'm going to stop buying it, but I'll keep checking the ingredients from time to time, and I'll definitely start buying again if it changes back.
I'm going from eating several boxes per week to zero after this recipe change. This was the one Kelloggs product I was willing to buy, but no longer if the old recipe isn't brought back. This new one tastes so insanely bad and is bewilderingly more expensive and a victim of obvious, disgusting shrinkflation. It's hard not to feel like a slap in the face as a consumer. Kashi was so important to me as a meal substitute as a traveling musician with little time to cook or dine out but I actually consider this inedible. Would rank in the negatives if I could. Who approved this???
Three months ago I would have given this 10 stars if I could. This new formula though is really bad. I was so dissapointed. The flavor is gone. I was eating a box every two or three day before. Now I'm done. Just hoping the old version comes back someday.
A couple of months ago I bought three boxes of the Chocolate crunch (It's mine and my husbands favorite, we went through so many boxes a week), and we thought we had gotten a bad batch. The flavor is terrible, texture is terrible, tastes and feels stale. I hate when companies change formulas. I guess the only good thing is we save a ton of money, we won't be purchasing anymore sadly.
I've been a loyal Kashi Go Lean Crunch (Chocolate) customer for years, easily 50+ boxes a year. Until recently, it was one of the best-tasting cereals on the market. The recent recipe change has completely altered that. The flavor is very bland, the texture is stale and cardboard-like, and it no longer delivers what kept me (and many others) coming back. I get that recipe changes don't happen in a vacuum, cost pressures, ingredient sourcing, supply chain efficiency, nutrition targets, maybe even global product alignment. Those are real business considerations. But here's the tradeoff I see as a customer: a product that's now (likely) cheaper to make, but one that loyal buyers no longer recognize or enjoy. And when those buyers leave, they usually don't come back. That's not just lost sales, it's a long-term brand trust and brand equity risk from your most loyal customers, and that's a lot harder and more costly in the long term to fix. A quick look at your own product page shows I'm not alone. Dozens of recent reviews from long-time customers say the same thing. Sadly, after years of loyalty, I've moved on to a completely different brand, and based on the other loyal customer reviews here, I am not alone.
I have been buying this cereal for years, and I'm incredibly disappointed in the new cereal formulation. It's inedible compared to the original recipe. And, why did they have to add chicory root fiber?! Additionally, this now has 5% less magnesium. The taste is the real deal breaker though, because it takes awful. I don't like leaving poor reviews, but I feel compelled to give feedback on this. PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK.
