definitely worth the swap

research April 15, 2026

These peanuts have replaced most of our birdseed. They attract all the birds we like, and not the swarms of doves, grackles, and sparrows (which were blocking the chickadees, cardinals, woodpeckers, and nuthatches). The birds politely grab one and leave, so there is a lot of action at the feeder. There is also no mess at all below. They may cost a bit more, but the trade-off is less cleanup. This brand costs less than others online, so a good bargain. Yes, the few squirrels who have gotten to the feeder will eat them, but with this type of covered hanging tray feeder, it's kept to a minimum, while being really easy to refill.

My peanuts bring all the birds to the yard

Meeka April 13, 2026

No shells! I accidentally ordered these nekked peanuts and thought OH NO - they won’t like them (woodpecker’s, cardinals and blue jays). Boy was I WRONG!!! There’s a line at the feeder and since I tossed them under the tree - all the squirrels are happily nibbling! Will definitely buy again and again!!!

Happy Jays and Woodpeckers

S May 30, 2026

My Blue Jays and Woodpeckers absolutely love them. Every morning they will sit in the branches above the feeders and wait for me to fill them. I add the peanuts to a premium seed mix and they will toss everything aside and go straight for the peanuts first. It's quite obvious that they prefer the peanuts..

I walk with a pocketful!

Anonymous April 9, 2026

I let nature teach the young, especially this time of year in the Spring, but we have encroached in on their turf, the least we could do is give them a break during inclement weather. They know it's coming so when the forecast calls for it I like to walk along city trails and just toss out a few near trees, birds and animals remember your face and it's a really good feeling when they get excited and come out and say hi when you're approaching! I love my furry and feathered Friends. Salt is horrid and possibly fatal for them if you give them regular human peanuts so these are perfect and not a bad price at all!

Bought this for my neighborhood Blue Jays and squirrels — now I feel like I’m running a five-star wildlife restaurant! The birds show up early, the squirrels never leave, and I’m pretty sure they’re telling their friends. Excellent product — highly recommended by me and my furry (and feathery) customers!

My birds and squirrels love these peanuts

Amy May 27, 2026

I go through a lot of peanuts on my squirrel and birdfeeders, so I comparison shop for the best deal. These peanuts are the best value for the money and they are good clean peanuts without a lot of dust and trash. I highly recommend

5 pounds of shelled peanuts

Carolyn March 4, 2026

these are 99% shelled. I have some bluejays that will eat peanuts but basically the Squirrels love them . I put out a variety including parakeet seed for the doves. I can hear various birds call out "peanuts are here" and many soon arrive. good quality nuts - hurry before the squirrels arrive !!

My only criticism is that much of the bag is filled with the dust from the peanut husks. And I think there is an excessive amount. But the squirrels and birds don't seem to mind. There's no extra kind of seed or filler in it. It's 100% peanut.

Bag full of crumbs and dust

Elizabeth May 29, 2026

I have bought this product in the past and been happy with it but the last bag I bought is all crumbs. Bag is mostly peanut crumbs and a lot of the skin from the peanuts. I put it in the feeder and birds pick out the few nuts and leave behind a bowl full of "dust". Very disappointed.

Won't be buying Kaytee shelled peanuts again!

Susan February 25, 2023

I liked the price but was VERY disappointed with the product. Most of the peanuts looked like they were gray and covered with mold or dirt, and I was very reluctant to even feed them to my birds. I took the worst ones out, each time I fed the birds, but they were very picky about which ones they ate; they left the whole ones and the ones that weren't flat enough (because their beaks are too small to pick them up), and they left the darkest ones and the grayest ones. (Please see the picture, comparing Kaytee peanuts on the left with generic Walmart peanuts on the right.) I was also disappointed with the packaging; the bag was not soft and pliable like Wagner and Lyric provide, and there was no zip-top to securely close it. Sorry, but I will go back to buying my birds the 1-lb. jars of generic unsalted peanuts (for human consumption) from Walmart for $1.99, which is cheaper than Kaytee anyway. My birds LOVE them!!!! Sorry, Kaytee :(
