Have worn and loved many pairs of Detroits. The last pair before the XT did not fit as well, was not as wide. I was afraid the EE XT would also be too narrow. I was pleasantly surprised they fit perfectly and the EE is at least as wide as the original. I have worn them for about six weeks, ordered a second pair, which also fit, and totally love this shoe. I also have Tucsons, Braddocks, and Pittsburghs but the Detroit is my favorite everyday shoe.
they were not very comfortable right out of the box, but feel great after a day or two. Ive had mine for a couple weeks now and really like them a lot. Good grip and a stable feel. I did add a 3mm gel insole to subtract a bit of loose space I could feel on the top of my feet. I like the rubber toe cap. Makes me feel that they are going to last a long time. They are great and I highly recommend them.
I had previously returned a pair of "wide" shoes for being too wide. The Detroit XT pair were a better fit but the soles were so large that they felt like large "clod hoppers" on my feet. It was more sole and shoe than I needed so another return. The construction of the shoe was very good and it was good quality material.
I don't know yet. This was a gift for my significant other, and I haven't had a chance to get it to him yet. (distance and work issues). Anyway, he' s a big Keen fan, and I had never heard of Keen until learning of it from him. He's a commercial master plumber, and the job requires great shoes. More later on his comments. But, as for mine, these things are insanely and about criminally expensive, especially for some Chinese made product. You people are full of greed and pure evil. If it weren't for him, I would not recommend your brand to anyone, unless they were rich.
I use these as my everyday shoes in the winter, besides going to work. I live in Michigan and we get plenty of snow, so having waterproof shoes is important to me. They are very rigid/stiff when cold. I wish they came in different colors. They work for their intended use, just not the most comfortable.
I have owned these shoes for about 7 months. For the price, I was skeptical, but after a 3 week break in period, these were the most comfortable work shoes I've ever worn. I work a lot of 12hour shifts as an aircraft mechanic, but have been able to stretch Wolverine, Merrill and Red Wings for 2 years on average. After 7 months, the toe cap on my left shoe is completely delaminated and the right is on its way. I wish these shoes would have held up, because they truly were the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, but those toe caps are obviously an issues with this model
The sole is peeling off and one of the shoelace eyelets broke within the first week of relaxed ware at work, some sitting and some light walking, I didn't even pull the laces tight
We purchased these from a recommendation from another contractor friend of my husband. They fell apart within 2 months of purchasing. I emailed Keen about the problem and received no response. I will not recommend this product to hard working people not will I buy from them again.
Rather than call and get angry at some innocent employee I chose to send Keen an email several weeks ago about defective merchandise asking for them to send me a prepaid postage label to return them. They never responded. I am now having to spend more money to buy sole inserts hoping that will make the shoes bearable as I see reading the fine print all Keen will do is keep your money and give you a credit to buy more faulty products.
I just ordered a pair wore them once and the toe is starting to peel. Called customer service and was told to go online and try to warranty them. Wore them once and already starting to fall apart not impressed first time with your product. Not a very good impression.
