The advent of Country Music explained.
This is a very detailed, well-researched study of the sources and individuals that were instrumental in creating America's unique blend of music that is now generically called “Country Music”. If you love any kind of music, you'll certainly appreciate this historical look back at the institution which is now simply called “Country Music”

Really good
Great production. Would have given five stars, but won't because I would have liked to heard more about the back stage a d day to day work of the players behind the stars. The first part was more personal, the later years not as much. Still really glad to have it so I can watch again.

A must have DVD set for country music fans
This is a fascinating, very detailed history of Country Music made by Ken Burns for PBS. It is very well done. We like country music but were amazed at all we learned and had never heard before. It was impossible for us to see all the episodes on PBS, and the DVD set allowed us to enjoy it at our leisure.

Will watch again and again!
I caught this on my local PBS station, and after watching just a few episodes, I knew I'd have to own it. I grew up on Country music, but this series has a fascinating history and provides insight into how Country music developed over the decades. Superb!

Worth the $
This is just an awesome history of country music along with cameos from all your favorites. I learned so much and enjoyed every second. I hated for it to be over but will watch it over and over. It's a keeper!

Very well produced
This set is very well done and informative. If you are interested in how country music got started this set is for you. It is quite long which makes it even better as it digs in to all aspects of the music. Lots of neat film footage and music.

LOVED IT!!
Amazing! Saw parts on PBS, but wanted to see the whole story. Even if you ate not particularly a vs fan, just the history, the photos, recollections of living persons will bring me back to viewing it time after time.

16 Hours of Entertainment!
An EXCELLENT documentary of Country music through time - the singers, the song writers, and their stories. SO GOOD!
