serious MTB contender

pinoybiker August 6, 2015

me and my buddy, a fellow Fil-Am biker came across this bike when we visited an asphalt paved bike trail in New Lenox, IL. and later decided to stop by the Walmart store there. to our surprise they got these bikes on display fully assembled, and upon closely checking it out, found out its price was 30$ less than the online price, which Walmart adjusted a couple of days later on the web. upon choosing the right bike, we also found out that some tires are 2.1 and 1.95 wide. and we got the 2.1. upon trying it out at the trail, walmart guys did an excellent job on brakes and gears adjustments, it runs smoothly right after purchase. full shimano drivetrain, front disc brakes, and aluminum body. this bike runs very light. This is the 5th genesis bike on our stable of capable steeds, a little bigger than the 26er and smaller than a 29er. tried it recently on a single track mtb trail, and its perfect. really great value bike for the price. just practice basic maintenance and this ride will last a long time.

27.5 genesis mountain bike

great bike for the money. I have a trek and there is a big difference in price. both bikes are different but you can not beat this bike if your a week end warrior in the trails. My only issue is the front disc needs some adjusting out of the box. Make sure you roll the wheel and center it properly . I have the green in color she looks great.

Excellent option for average bicyclists

ValueMapping May 14, 2016

If you are able to do just a little adjusting to the front disc break pads, and can replace the below average tire tubes (the 2.1 size tire is better for added suspension, while maintaining good maneuverability) with Bell standard valve tubes or better, then this bike is an outstanding choice for the rider that's between 5'7" and 6'1" tall, and less than 220 lbs. The rear shock, when set complimentary to the front shocks and 32lbs of air in the tires, is a great ride. And it really does look very sharp!

Good bike overall

jaybird36 April 18, 2016

The bike was good bike so far however who ever put the bike together didn't check to mark sure he did it right they didn't check the chain was on and Jamed it in between the pedal which then I had to take it to a bike shop to fix it and he also fixed aether things that need to be. I would alway suggestions to take any bike that you buy from a store to a shop for tune up make sure everything checks out

27 inch Pros and Cons

Desertfox March 17, 2016

--Cons-- 1) Front break is very sqeaky however I think this is normal for lowerend disc bikes. And when I say speaky it's very sqeaky. 2) A bit heavy but not that bad for Wal-Mart. This isn't really a complaint but something to be awair of. --Pros-- 1) Bike is cheap and does come with a great year long full return plan for a few extra bucks. 2) This is my bike for light trails in Nevada but often times my wife uses it for herself for getting around Vegas. 3) Shifts great and back break is amazing. Also the spring is really nice for someone being about 150-200 pds. My last thoughts about this bike is if your in a pinch and need a spare bike this is great to start with. Just make sure to get the return plan and upgrade later. I think there are some quality control issues with the maker so it might take a couple to get a good one ;) Great starter frame and could be upgraded more as you learn.
