It took a little while to ship to the store and then when it got there they wanted me to wait a whole other week for assembly, so I jut ended up doing it myself. It was fairly simple and it didn't take to long. The bike rides extremely smooth and gets pretty fast for being a single speed, plus you can coast on the thing for ever. I don't recommend switching the back tire to the fixed gear position unless your a more experienced cyclist because it is a really hard ride. Between the light weight frame and the slick look I can say I don't have anything negative to say about my new bicycle. If your debating on this, just get it you won't regret your purchase.
I bought this bike to put a bike engine kit on and it worked out perfect! If you are looking for a fixie that will get the job done or our building a motorized bike this is perfect. If you are builing a motorized bike the common (Skyhawk) 2 stroke 80/66cc kits fit like they are made for this bike! The engine fits without any extra work, the grips, clutch and killswitch go right on, the gas tank is out of the way, its great! The only BAD PART of the bike are the brakes. They are made out of some "Off the shelf" chinese rubber (maybe rubber/ soft plastic?). If you buy some good afterment pads for under 10 bucks, you will be all set!
This is a great bike for the price. It is lightweight and I had it assembled and took it out for a ride within an hour after bringing it home. I also have no intention of replacing any of the parts since I find all of them to be of good quality and they all work.
it is one of the best bikes I ever had and it feels like a 500 Dollar bike when it is really only 100 Dollars. I am German and I have high expectations to bikes and cars. This bike is a Mercedes or a BMW. In comparison to other bikes in this price range (this bike shouldn't even compete in this price range since it is a really good bike) this bike does not have any unneccessary stuff, like springs, cool decorations, a gearshifter or gears - all the money saved there went into the parts that are neccessary to have like breaks, frame and wheels (red, very designed) it is a very plain bike that rocks my world. With other bikes in this price range the breaks often don't work well, feel like they are blocking (dangerous) and the breaks make sqeeking sounds - Not with this Fixie Thrster Bike - it's got excellent Aloi breaks that work really ell and make no sound. I was never happier about a purchase - in fact a ordered a second one online as a backup, should my first one gets stolen. Buy this bike! This bike is a very good bike and dirt cheap for what it is.
Great bike for the price! If you are looking for a fast, reliable, stylish and economical fixie look no further. I bought this bike 2 days ago and I can’t stay off of it. It also has a flip hub rear wheel. This means you can ride it as a fixed gear (pedals always move when bike is in motion, even when coasting), or you can turn around the rear tire for single speed mode (which allows you to free spin the pedals backwards or keep the pedals still while the bike is in motion). Being a fixie enthusiast and wanting to ride in true fixie fashion first thing I did was order new pedals capable of handling straps or toe clips to assist in skid breaking on my fixie. I also removed all the decals and stickers purely for aesthetics. The bike seat is not the most comfortable, but most certainly is not the worst if experienced. I'm still using the stock seat. Some people have mention issues with braking. I honestly have had no problems, but like I said I'm a fixie enthusiasts and we prefer to stomp on the pedals going backwards to stop (YouTube "fixie skid stop"), and the handle brakes are purely used as a backup. A lot of true fixies don’t have handle brakes at all to be honest. Fixies are highly customizable too. Everything from hadlebars, pedals, seats, chains, to tires and rims are widely available in a variety of colors to make your fixie all your own. Overall this fixie is a great value. For under $100 you can own a reliable bike that has a good light weight frame. Get yourself a water bottle holder, a helmet, a U bar lock and (not or, AND)chain lock, new pedals and enjoy your fixie summer! P.S. Learn how to properly lock up your new investment, especially you city dwellers. Again, I would recommend a YouTube search for this info. If you're a night rider please invest in a flashing rear light and always ride with the flow of traffic in bright/reflective clothing. Be safe! Have fun!
I wanted to start riding a bike again for exercise only, and started shopping around for simple, low priced bike and saw this Kent online...Iv'e never rode a fixie type bike such as this one before, so I decided to give it a try. At the low price of $79.99, I knew I could not go wrong. To my amazement the bike shipped to the store within 2 days, and upon opening the box I was surprised no parts were damaged, but rather only a small scratch on the fork. Assembly was quite easy, that anyone can put it together within 15 minutes or so. The bike frame itself is sturdy and well built, while the parts are of fair quality. After riding two rides on the bike trail, I must say that the bike rides very smooth and quiet. Though it is called a fixie bike, it does not have a fixed gear hub, just single speed... This Kent bike is the perfect fitness bike and would make a great bike for those who need a bike for commuting.
This is a great bike for the money at $79. Upon arrival i noted the one of break pads had come off, and corresponding screw, special washers, etc had fallen out of box during shipping. Walmart may have sent them if I contacted them to let them know about it, but I needed the bike right away so i purchased a replacement break pad set at the local walmart and that fixed that issue. The second and more concerning issue was that neither tire's rims were trued. This meant they wobbled quite a bit and needed trued. In addition to regular bike assembly, this meant I had to learn how to true a rim and purchase a $5-10 tool to tighten and loosen the spokes to true both rims. Having grown up working on bikes I was able to accomplish the task, but it still took about an 90 minutes to true the rims. For those not aware of how to true a rim, you can look for YouTube videos on it. But it's not a fast process and could be quite a frustrating task. As well, if you're not sure what you're doing, you will likely end up either breaking a spoke or truing in a way that leads to bigger issues. With trued rims and break parts replaced, it's a great bike for the money!
I bought this looking for a way to get to campus that wouldn't break the bank and that's exactly what it is. I'm a 5'3" woman, but this was the cheapest bike with road tires that I could find. Stopping is a bit tricky because my feet can't reach the ground when I'm on the seat, but I can still ride standing or sitting without a problem. It's lightweight, so it's easy to control and easy to carry up to my apartment. The guard around the chain/gear is a nice feature too. I didn't want to wait 24-48 hours for Walmart to put it together for me, so I took it home in the box. It went together in about an hour, but it was a good thing my boyfriend had a diverse allen wrench set. The breaks are what gave us the most trouble. In all, I would recommend this for anyone that wants an easy, cheap way to get from point A to point B.
This is my 3rd motorized bike. My last two builds were Huffy Cranbrooks. While I am no expert in building motorized bikes, this was probably the easiest so far. The engine mounted perfectly, the rear sprocket was easy to install and the bike is light and fast. I would recommend this bike to someone for a first build since you wont need to modify anything. However, this bike isn't meant for short people. I am 6' and I have to have the seat all the way down in order to ride comfortably. Pros: Steel frame Cons: Plastic crank Tips: Adjust brakes before you ride it. Be sure to install pedals correctly or upgrade to steel pedals.
The old saying goes, "you get what you pay for." This is not a street level racing bike, nor a mid level mountain bike. It is a means to get around and for that matter it meets the average rating. I didn't expect much when I purchased this bike but was surprised how much you could get for $79. This is a fixed gear bike and if you're doing any riding on other than flat ground, you might want to seek a bike with multiple gears. Other than a few adjustments and having to tighten the handle bars really well, it's been a reliable way to get around. I would definitely recommend to anyone who just wants a bike to get around and doesn't want to spend a lot of money.
