I buy this cheese for a few reasons. It cost a little more than the majority of similar cheeses. I don't mind because Kerry Gold doesn't use Rennet to speed up the cheese making process. In fact, the only product they make that uses Rennet, is there unsalted butter. I don't know what the reasoning is, but this cheese is naturally aged and delicious. I appreciate that they offer grass fed dairy products and don't shortcut the manufacturing and creating of these products. It's always been top shelf, quality, texture, and flavor.
A great cheese made from grass fed cows' milk. I like the taste, and if you live for Kraft singles you might not be a fan. You really can't compared this cheese and Kraft singles. They are not in the same ballpark
I've made the mistake in the past of not using quality cheese for a family holiday recipe. This year, I used Kerry Gold Cheddar and without prompting, my husband asked me why the dish was so good this year. It was because of the cheese.
This is delicious butter, the old adage you get what you pay for is very true in this item if you wanna taste real butter again this is the one for you! Dave
If there is a better brand to buy at a grocery vs at a specialty cheese shop, I'll like to know what it is. This has such full flavor and great texture.
i use Kerry gold cheese for most of my meals. The flavor is not like other afed cheese. It's more rich.
Kerrgold is a premium aged natural cheese with a pronounced rich, savory taste and a slight nutty finish. These characteristics make a difference and makes the purchase justified especially when I use in recipes.
pretty good flavor, smooth texture, not crumbly at all. Better flavor than a lot of sharp cheddars sold these days.
when I look for a specialty cheese aged cheese, I look for shoes that has the calcium crystals in it with a nice sharp taste, and that is crumbly. this kerrygold aged cheese did not seem to be aged. it seems like any other cheese that you just pick up off the store shelf it wasn't very special. the taste was kind of light but also had a slight sharp taste to it but it wasn't something that I want to continue eating. I was expecting this cheese to be good because it wouldn't claims to be different than regular store-bought or commercial brand cheese. but if I had a blind taste test between the kerrygold Irish grass-fed is cheese and a commercial cheese like Tillamook or Sargento I might not be able to tell the difference. not to say that the cheese was bad or anything it just wasn't age or reserved cheese like a special cheese. and for the price and the amount I probably wouldn't buy again sorry to say. I compare my cheese to WSU Creamery cougar gold cheese cuz that is the ultimate cheese and the second best cheese to come close to that is Old Croc Grand Reserve is an award-winning, premium Australian cheddar aged for two years, if your store has that in stock, go on and get some. you can thank me later LOL. sorry kerrygold.
I use to buy the Kerrygold Reserve Cheddar Cheese. The past couple of months the black labeled reserve cheese has been replaced with a slightly different/lighter label and the cheese does not taste the same.
