It was my fault for not reading the description closely. My old storm door is 1 5/8 wide, which is too thick for this product. Unfortunately, I could not readily locate a latch for a thicker door. I was able to manufacture a longer metal spindle (out of steel) and buy two 2 inch machine bolts at the hardware store, so I got it to work. I don't know why the manufacturer can't include a slightly longer adjustable spindle, and a set of longer screws to go with the assortment that already comes with the product to create a greater range of use.

The way these storm door handles are made these days, you would be lucky to get a metal slide shaft to push the indoor handle mechanism to unlock the door. The most of them are made of plastic or cheap "pot-metal", which bends under light loads.< br>< br>This one is perfect. Solid aluminum body and handles, locking lever, and post. All the screws needed for any clearance needs and shims to make the install complete and functional. If your new to these and unsure, you can't go wrong on this one, it will get the job done right, within minutes and with satisfaction. You can't go wrong, especially for the price. The similar or higher priced ones give you plastic parts and cheap metal, so this one can't be beat. Cheers!

This push button door latch replaces one that stopped working from years of use. Nothing fancy, but it does the job and is an exact replacement for the original. Sometimes you don't want thinks to change when you are happy with what you already have!

Needed to have a keyed entrance screen door to my screened in lanai. I simply removed the old handle and replaced it with this one. Everything fit perfectly, did not have to make any adjustments. Came with 3 different screw lengths to handle any door thickness. Comes with two keys. Very sturdy, well made, do not hesitate to purchase.

A little complicated to install but once you figure it out it's doable. You do have to "break" off part of metal piece that goes thru the door to fit and allow the button to function for both sides. Directions say break off as if you can just do it easily, it is not easy however, took some struggling with bolt cutters but eventually got it down to correct size. I'd suggest having your handyman install because it was super frustrating doing it on my own as I have little "fix it" experience, felt very proud of myself tho once it was done! :)

Like the other reviewer, the hardest part of the installation was breaking off the excess length of the spindle. Unless you are Superman or the Hulk, you won't be able to just break it off using two pliers. I took a saw to it, then was able to break it off. But I'd imagine it would be the same for any other brand of locks, since you may need to adjust the length of the spindle to fit your door. Other than that, installation is merely removing the previous handle and installing this one, fairly easy and quick. I didn't need anything fancy, just a set that can be locked, and this suited me just fine.

Good storm door handle. I took off one star because I changed locks for security moving into new place. I replaced this with identical model Wright model that was there. The old handle keys open this new one. That isn't very secure if all the Wright storm door keys in the world open every lock. Defeated the point of changing the lock didn't it??

The screw pattern was different from the non-locking door handle. You have to cut off/break off one component based on your door thickness. The instructions on how much to cut off based on your door thickness were not correct. Otherwise it installed without any issues.
