I haven't had it for long, but it was easy to install, simple to change the battery, and it works!
I had these same ones in my townhouse which I moved out of, it works perfectly fine but it would start to make a code 1 tone for no reason, and then I had to take the sucker down and take out the battery and I would also have to put it in the closet for a few days then put the battery back in then put it back up.
Worked correctly for the first 3 years then started with false alarms which cannot be silenced (holding the hush button does nothing…it just eventually stops on its own). Batteries are always the recommended type/brand/age/expiry. We've done the compress air routine which anecdotally would buy us a few month but lately no amount of cleaning seems to help. I'm not sure what good the warranty is since whenever we've called support they just assume its dirty and our fault. We have to prematurely replace since we have pets who are terrified when a false alarm goes off with no one home to deal with it.
Alarm sounded in middle of night. Would not silence until battery pulled. Tried using can of electronic air spray and new battery but alarm continued to sound right when new battery installed. We have two of this model, both in a bedroom, and only this one failed so far.
Piece of junk. I've had it less then a year. It just keeps beeping. I've tried to blow into the detector, let it sit in the sun for a few hrs, but it just keeps beeping.
I wish I would have read reviews before purchasing. Same thing is happening with mine, as in all the other reviews. It keeps going off all hours of the night scaring my dog and myself. I have cleaned it ,vacuumed it ,blown it out made sure there was no air flow, placed it in recommended area. I sure hope there's no fire , before I get a replacement of another brand. If anyone out there has this alarm , I recommend replacing it with another brand. Ive read like 12 reviews and they all say the same thing I'm not sure why it hasn't been recalled.
I've purchased one of these alarms for my current house. They went off numerous of times throughout the day and night. I contacted Kidde and they sent a replacement which also was faulty. I called a second time and stated that it should be recalled due to false alarms sounding all the time. The person I spoke to brushed it off and asked if I vacuum the alarm etc. After all the issues with this alarm and another different type of alarm. It's worrisome if they will work during an actually fire. I think I'll switch to another popular brand.
It came with the condo I bought and moved into 3 months ago. The manufacture date stated on the device indicates it was manufactured on October 15, 2021. It failed about a month ago, so not even a year old. It's not located near “high flow areas” and is mounted where the instructions recommend. It went off in the middle of the night, would not silence, and did not work (went off and the push the hush button would not hush it) even after a vacuum and replaced batteries. My old place had Kidde alarms that were 15 years old that worked great (i.e., went off when they should —indicating we needed to clean the oven ;) ), tested fine, batteries replaced every six months. Kidde is taking shortcuts and blaming the consumer for the result of its cheap quality. I replaced it with a First Alert.
bought a month ago and the fire alarm goes off for no reason? my house is newer with good air flow, low humidity etc., this is garbage.
This smoke alarm makes me want to just take a chance at dying in a fire rather than have to listen to all the false alarms.
