Kidde Pro 5 CO2 Fire Extinguisher 466180, 5lb, 5-B:C

I decided this item is something no home should be without! I live in a rural area, and our fire department is made up of volunteers. If our home catches fire it will take time for help to arrive. When I think about how much my family and home mean to me, it only makes sense to have a fire extinguisher handy in case of emergencies. Kidde is a well-known name that has been around for quite some time. When I choose an item such as this I want a product with a well-known name. The instruction manual is simple, yet thorough. It explains how to use it, inspect and care for it, and install it in your home. We installed ours at the top of the stairs leading to our lower level, right off the kitchen, where many home fires can occur. I can't give a review based on usage (thank goodness); however, if you are shopping for a home fire extinguisher I can recommend this one based on reputation, ease of installation, and use/understanding of the instruction manual.

This item is large and heavy. The instructions are printed right on the body for ease of reference. It comes with a bracket for wall mounting that I haven't been able to install yet so I store it next to the door leading to the garage for easy access. I haven't had a need to use it and I hope I never do but it's good to have for peace of mind.

This Kidde fire extinguisher is excellent. This is everything I wanted for my house. It is just the right size and it puts out any electrical fire or liquid grease fires in your oven.  It comes with a cone nozzle you can lift up and sweep left to right to put out any flames.  An advantages of a CO2 fire extinguisher is they don't make a mess like dry powder or liquid extinguishers do.  This is refillable, not a use once and throwaway item.  It also comes with a hanger so you can hang it any place in your home for convenience.  It weighs about 15 lbs and height is 17 inches and diameter is 5 1/4 inches. 

This is a difficult item to comment on because unless I have a fire I cannot use. I choose KIDDE brand over others because of past experiences and the brand name reliability. Having past experiences with another brand that was unsatisfactory. I wanted better piece of mind. I know Kidde brand is used in hotels and restaurants so I hope I don't have to use but feel secure in my decision. I will consult a professional to inspect yearly. Mounted and stored easily yet accessible.

Nice well-built fire extinguisher. Very heavy duty. Easy to follow instructions and big enough for most any containable household fire anyone would encounter. It is heavy, and you need one hand for holding and squeezing, and another hand for holding and pointing the nozzle, so take that into consideration for older people. Good product and I'd recommend. Better safe than sorry.

This fire extinguisher is suitable for use on liquids and electrical fires . The information with this item says the Pro 5 carbon dioxide unit is environmentally safe and ideal for protecting delicate electronic equipment as the clean agent leaves no residue. I have not had to use it, to find out (Thank Goodness) But, feel good to know this information. The cylinder is made from aluminum and the valve assembly is metal. I like that it has a Powder coated cylinder so it will not corrode. I appreciate the Crystal-clear, step-by-step instructions on the label, as I have never had to use one to this date. Easy-to-read, But, I feel secure in knowing what I need to do after reading the information. The pressure gauge is easy to read to check to make sure it will operate correctly. I like the Lock-safe release pin that will keep from accidental discharge. The easy-pull release pin appears to be easy enough to pull in the event of emergency. I like that it says the Dry MP agent is safe for use around food and electronics. I like that it's Rechargeable. Come with a 5 year limited warranty & Came with a wall hanger I used to hang in our kitchen.

This is one of those products that one hopes to not have to review because you had to use it.  Therefore, this review will be done on the extinguisher prior to use.  Why get a CO2 extinguisher?  For several reasons.  It smothers fire quickly in draft-free conditions, CO2 is a non-conductor, so can be used on live electrical equipment and it leaves no residue and is not as damaging to electrical equipment as powder.  So if you have to use it in the home it will not leave damaging and hard to clean white powder residue.  Also, CO2 extinguishers don't have gauges to indicate the charge level.  How do you tell if it's full?  Weigh it when you get it and annotate the weight on the included inspection card that you attach to the unit.  Then weigh it periodically.  These types of units can be recharged as well.  These units are more expensive than powder type extinguishers but have the advantage of almost lifetime use if cared for.

My husband is a first responder and we like to be ready for potential emergency at home. He has plenty of experiences and training of using fire extinguisher and said this is a great extinguisher. It came fully filled with pressurized powder, and the design of the handle is easy to use. He only wishes that this extinguisher would have a pressure gauge to show the pressure inside and whether it's time to refill it. But this extinguisher comes with a tag to mark inspection dates so if we keep a good habit of having it inspected we can keep it functional and ready for a long time. Overall this is a good one to have at home, and it's the regular size extinguisher (it comes with a hook so you can hang it on a wall if you want, but considering the size and weight of it we'd probably just let it sit in a corner of our home). Very happy with this extinguisher. I also like the fact that they included user instruction which gives a little introduction to how to use the extinguisher.

I have a small apartment that has one convenient hallway to access all of the rooms.I hung this one fire extinguisher in that hallway.this Kidde unit is a little large and there for a little weighty but I will definitely appreciate having it to guard against a fire.it is super easy to understand with a large sticker on the tank of how to use it properly.I am a little bummed that there is no gauge for the contents.the handles,levers and valves are all a very sturdy metal.the unit gives me PEACE of mind.its something you never hope to use but good to have in emergencys.I had a major house fire about 10 years ago and this type of unit could have prevented the thousands of dollars in damage.Its great for professionals,homeowners,renters and the average person alike.A must have.

It's a little strange to rate something that you can't really try out to be sure it works. I will say that this extinguisher is quite impressive out of the box. The heavy cylinder is made of aluminum, the valves are probably steel and all the parts appear sturdy and well made. It appears to be an excellent choice for home safety.
