If you are looking for a reliable way to child-proof your balcony or deck, we truly recommend this. It is worth every penny for the safety and relief it provides! PLEASE READ: When those heavy-duty zip ties are cut, the remaining "nub" can be as sharp as a small blade. By facing the heads and cut ends toward the outer side of the railing (facing away from the balcony floor), you ensure that your loved one playing near the edge or holding onto the rails, their hands and legs won't accidentally brush against those sharp edges. Pro-Tips for a Smoother Finish • The "Flush Cut" Trick: If you have a pair of wire snips or flush cutters (rather than regular scissors), you can cut the tie perfectly flat against the head. This removes the sharp "tail" entirely so it feels smooth to the touch. • Rotate the Ties: Before you tighten the zip tie all the way, rotate the "head" (the square part) so it sits on the outside face of the metal railing. • File the Edges: If any ends still feel scratchy, a quick pass with a fingernail file or a small piece of sandpaper can round off the plastic and make it completely safe. Safety for my little one works well

It was thinner than I expected I'm sure it would be ok for a cat but I wouldn't feel safe for a toddler. We returned it.
