We use this product as follow-up nutrition to our exercise routines. At a time when more of us are trying to be careful about our calorie intake, protein that is not meat based becomes more important. These are both a treat and an excellent recovery food.
I love these Kind breakfast protein bars. They have a really good cocoa flavor. The texture is similar to a chewy granola bar but they are definitely more substantial and filling, and the bars themselves are more dense than a chewy granola (such as Quaker). There are 4 pouches with 2 bars each, for a total of 8 bars in all, so it's a fairly small box which is my only complaint. As far as taste and it being filling and healthy, I give it 5 stars.
I don't understand the constant change in texture. Every time I buy them, they are different - from moist and chewy to dry and crumbly. The most recent purchase is dry and crumbly, so this will probably be the last time I buy them.
I've been eating (and previously enjoying) the Protein breakfast bars daily for years. Dark Chocolate was always my favorite, but lately (just prior to, and consistently after the packaging changes) - the bars have a rock-hard/dry texture and lack the chocolate flavor they once had! Another noticeable change is the size of the bars is much less consistent from what they previously were. These issues are shated across all varieties I eat (Dark Choc, PBB&DC, Almond Butter, etc). One other specific difference, unique to the Peanut butter Banana & Dark Chocolate is the change in shape and density. They used to be more freeform shape, but now they are a much more compressed "biscuit" shape - with a less desireable texture/moisture level. Do better. You haven't reduced prices, so why reduce quality?
Healthy or Not Healthy! The Food and Drug Administration sent a nine-page warning letter to the Kind company recently stating that four of its snack bars are misbranded because, among other things, the company calls them healthy when the bars don't meet the agency's definition of the word. We were buying them because they taste good, then realized the FDA informed the the doctors and the public.
I have purchased these bars for years as my go-to for snacks. I actually didn't know they were changing the formula but I could tell when I bit into it that it was different. Doesn't taste as good, harder texture, and canola oil is now the third ingredient. I couldn't even finish the bar. I've really enjoyed these but now I'm shopping for something else. Please return to the old recipe! Thanks.
I used to love the dark chocolate cocoa breakfast protein bars, they were a staple product in our household that we would buy in bulk. However, without warning they changed the formula for the worse. At first I thought I bought a bad batch or that they were expired or something, but after buying them again and again and checking that they weren't expired, I realized the box they were packaged in wasn't the only thing that changed. I feel mislead because there was no warning on the box that the formula had changed. I hate the taste of the new formula. The bar is now hard and has lost its flavor, especially the sweetness that it used to have. It tastes expired. I will no longer be buying this bar unless they announce that they are reverting back to the old formula. The fact that they didn't announce a formula change feels extremely misleading. I understand cocoa prices went up but please be transparent with your loyal customers about changes to your products.
FALSE ADVERTISING SAYS 4 COUNT ONLY RECEIVED 1 !!
I hate the new protein breakfast bars!!! I used to eat the original ones every morning. It was a gluten free staple. The original ones were soft and fluffy, but now it's just hard, tasteless, and chalky!!! :-( I won't be buying them unless they go back to something closer to the original.
I had a bar from a freshly purchased box this morning and it was so terrible I went Googling to see if anyone else had the same reaction. From the reviews you can tell - the new version is awful and dry and bland and I am canceling my recurring subscription for this product. It's practically false advertising to keep it under the same product name. Sadly I have four more unopened boxes that I wouldn't even give away.
