Wonderful flour! I don't like white wheat or 100% whole wheat. Thie flour is the perfect compromise. It has the fiber and nutritional value of 100% whole wheat without the heaviness. My first loaf of bread was white flour soft with a delicious nuttiness. It held up well for sandwiches. It toasted beautifully.
I wanted a flour for baking bread that is both healthy and delicious. I looked all over for whole wheat white flour and Walmart was the only place I could find it.
I wanted to give my teen another flour option for baking goodies so far both muffins and banana bread have came out wonderful, making this another item added to food pantry.
This is a light flour and should be added to your baking and breading for health. Does not have the taste of regular whole wheat
...and we have not bought commercial buns, rolls, or breads in a decade. Consequently, I use a lot of flour. Finding a balance between Price and Quality takes time, and is a headache. I have baked with inexpensive flour (tipping towards Price) and with expensive flour (tipping towards Quality). I am drawn to King Arthur flour because it is consistent in content, and reasonably priced (at Walmart). Buying it in lots of six bags is economical; I have room in my freezer for up to twelve five-pound bags. I bake a 100% whole wheat Pain de Mie that is out-of-this-world delicious: perfectly-risen, with a tender, yet firm, crumb, and a wonderful wheat-y flavor. It has become my favorite loaf, and I believe it all begins with the flour. Despite my general dismissal of marketing hype, perhaps there is a difference in King Arthur's flour. As long as it is available at Walmart, I can mind my P's and Q's :-)
I use this flour for all my baking...ALL my baking
Light whole wheat like prairie gold flour. I love how fine and smooth it is. Baking is great with it.
I gave this whole wheat white flour 4 stars overall because the package wasn't sealed completely. The flour spilled out when I opened the shipping container. I baked yeast bread with this flour. I recommend mixing it with just a little white flour for best results. I think that it can work for pastries if you are an experienced pastery baker. I'm an amateur baker. My bread came out with good structure. The bread that I made with this flour tastes and texture is closer to white bread than the one made with regular whole wheat flour. It's nutritent profile is slightly higher. Yes, I would recommend this flour if you're looking to make a healthy whole grain loaf that is closer to white flour's taste and texture.
As pictured on the review, I ordered the WHITE Whole Wheat Flour, but what I received is the GOLDEN Whole Wheat Flour. Admittedly, I didn't see the disclaimer message that Wal-Mart would automatically switch to something different if unavailable. However after receiving the wrong item I researched the item again and found it to be available, but only in a larger quantity purchase. I don't need eight (8) 5 lb. bags of the flour. This type of bait %26 switch policy, not clearly made known in the order process, is deceitful and unacceptable. "WAL-MART STRIKES AGAIN".
i received the wrong item i order the white whole wheat flour i got golden flour.
