This is a very sturdy feeder! Best part is the top dome slides up easily so mealworms and other seed can be put in. The bottom tray has small holes for drainage in rainy weather. I have owned several different dome feeders but I like this one the best. We'll see how it holds up in the weather but should be good!
We bought this feeder for a gift and were highly satisfied when it arrived. The birds love it and we even ordered a second one just like it! It keeps the seed dry in bad weather which was our major n reason for purchasing it. We would recommend this feeder if you're in need of one to protect the seed in inclement weather.
Excellent quality and easy to refill. I love that it is adjustable as it actually keeps the doves and other bully birds out. My cardinals love it. The dome top spins so squirrels cannot reach it easily if the dome cover is set low enough. I don't mind the squirrels as much as the doves if a squirrel would be able to get high enough on the shepherd hook to tip the tray
The bird feeder needed extra reinforcements to hang from my tree. After it was hung, I adjusted it to feed blue jays and smaller birds. I really enjoy watching the birds using this feeder. I'll take pictures later and upload them to this review. It is a pretty sturdy bird feeder for the price. It's pretty decent at keeping the squirrels out of it. I'm going to buy a squirrel feeder later on for my backyard. Like I said, I enjoy watching the birds feed in my backyard. When I refill this feeder, I found it fairly easy to clean. I'd buy it again.
I like that its covered and height is adjustable for different birds.
Love it!! Keeps the pigeons and larger birds that decimate seeds in a day, out. You just lower the clear cover enough to only allow the size bird you want to feed, so easy to refill also! And birds can pick out what they want instead of shifting out tons of seed from a seed hole that ends up wasted on the ground.
These feeders are great. I have four of them. Keeps seed dry and can raise and lower the dome to allow for different size birds to enter.
A variety of birds small %26 large use this daily. It's like TV to watch them. Be sure to periodically check that the post is tight: the bowl fell off mine whether it was from an accumulation of wind or intense movement from large birds.
I bought this specific design bird feeder because I think the feathered fans spread the word and every dove within a 20 mile radius overhead and followed the flocks to my yard! I swear there was 3-5 doves that would get up in my seed tray and eat themselves into a coma then peck at the little finches trying to grab a seed or 2. (I originally bought the bird feeder for my little birds) Once this arrived, I was STOKED. I wouldn't have to refill it twice a day and my finches could eat in peace once again. To say the doves were livid would be an understatement! They were furious. But I was fair and spread a solid 15lb each week at the base of my tree. I love the design of this feeder because my finches can get to their food and it keeps the bigger hoarding birds out. Only drawback is how the dome is secured. I read that you needed to ensure it was tight so it wouldn't trap birds. (I didn't want to traumatize my birds) I didn't expect the inner brass fitting that the screw needs to hold the dome on to come loose. I purchased this 4 months ago and just took it down to gently clean and when trying to put it back together it fell apart. Very upsetting. Hopefully this next one will last a big longer. I think the doves are conspiring with this company because for such a simple item, I really expected it to be better built and last longer. I will give it a second chance. Here's to hoping this next one lasts better. (If anyone thought the doves were going extinct, rest assured, they're all in my yard eating their hearts out while my finches all sit along the fence line trying to lure the neighbor cat towards the feeder where all the doves are resting!)
Wish the long screw hook that holds the base feeding unit that you screw on was longer and had a bolt style nut to hold it in place. My base has come unscrewed 3 times since I purchased it. Now that we have snow and a pile of it off my deck I'm unable to get to it to put my mealworm in.
