Kitchenaid KTTS505EPA 1.4 Cu. Ft. Built-in Trash Compactor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is replacement for a Whirlpool compactor that lasted only four years. My new KitchenAid compactor has sleek exterior and quiet operation. It compresses so well that I rare need to use solid pack mode.

I had a Whirlpool trash compactor for over 30 years and was sad to see it finally die. I researched and decided on this kitchen aid unit. It is awesome. Works smoother than my other unit and is all stainless steel which is attractive. Is very quiet when it compacts. The only thing negative I could say is that the handle is unnecessary. Everything is operated with your foot. People who don't know the unit tend to grab the handle to try and yank it open possibly causing harm to the unit. It would be more attractive without it too!

We remodeled our kitchen after 20 years living in our dream home. I was tired of having a trash can sitting around in the kitchen and didn't want the looks of an overflowing trash bag to take away from my new kitchen. I researched brands for a good month before deciding on a Kitchen Aid compactor in brushed stainless steel. It looks incredible! Modern and function coming together perfectly. It's efficiency amazes me as I have gone from 3-4 plastic bags of trash to just one compact bag every week. No more messy look or odors to be concerned about either. Just open, close and compact. The noise is not a distraction either, actually quieter than my dishwasher! I love all of my Kitchen Aid products and definitely would recommend the Kitchen Aid brand to anyone

I put in a brand new kitchen during a total remodel of the first floor of my home. I have had previous trash compactors in the past and always liked the connivence of having 1 bag of garbage per week. This Kitchen Aid has a couple of features that really impress: regular compacting and solid locked cycle and 2 types of air fresheners. So far I am very pleased with its use. With any trash compactor, I have had 2 before this from a different brand, it takes a bit getting used to getting the bag in the machine properly but once you master that its easy to use. Just have to teach your family members how to open and use gently!

I purchased this compactor a month ago and I am so pleased with its operation! I had owned a compactor for about 20 years and never a problem then in 2010 we moved into new home and had another make compactor that was terrible. It ended being very costly before finally purchasing this new KitchenAid!

I can't believe people who don't want a trash compactor. Could not live without one. I wanted one that would go with my other appliances which are Stainless steel and read all the reviews I could. This one lives up to the Kitchen Aid standard of quality. The compaction is really strong and while the operating pedal was hard to find at first it works just fine. I'm glad this is the one I purchased.

I have always wanted a trash compactor. I think that the kitchen looks great without those plastic tied up trash bags. It is a new experience for me I have only had it for one month. I think it is one of the best purchases I have made for my household. It is very effective and very attractive. Our KitchenAid trash compactor is a part of daily routine cleaning and controlling trash and garbage. It really is an aid in my kitchen.

I bought this less than two mnnths ago, and so far I really like it. The compactor is easy to use and it adds beauty to my kitchen. I was skeptical at first in purchasing this particular model, because of other reviews I read about it with cutomers saying the front door was a bit flimsy. After seeing it in person and using it myself, I am quite happy with the quality and ease of use that the flimsiness of the door is really no big issue with me. The one thing that I did have trouble with at first is locating the foot press button to make the compactor turn on. The manaul does not show a picture of where the actual foot pedel is to start the machine. It is located on the bottom lower right side underneath the big long black foot pedal. It took me over a week of truing to figure out why lt wouldn't work until I found this other foot pedal! Why the manual doesn't show this in it's description is a mystery to me! Overall, I'm very happy and confident that this compactor will last for years to come. The front panel is a bit flimsy, but I'm sure with proper use it will last for years to come too.

This is a nice compactor that really looks very sharp -- we like the handle. The only thing that we don't like is that the handle is so prominent that everyone wants to pull it - and in fact the way to open is to press on the foot bar. So, it's a bit misleading to have such a strong signal to open something and a big pull on that could do damage to the compactor.

it is ok but very noisy compared to other kitchen aid appliances we bought. Doesn't open very easily and don't care for compactor switch being inside the door - when someone clicks it on we have to put a sign up since don't know and go to open it and start yarding on the thing thinking it is stuck. Wouldn't be my first choice. But it smashes the garbage so that is a plus! For the money we paid for this Kitchen Aid could of done better. also doesn't feel well built - time will tell only been here 6 weeks
