Though I love my Mixer, the bowl was sometimes too large for some smaller batches. This bowl and accompanying whip is the perfect solution. Not only is it great for those smaller needs, it also acts as a holding bowl from additions to your recipe. Highly recommended!!
Having a smaller bowl that fits my 6 qt mixer for those smaller projects is great! Many complain about the larger bowls being too big for whipping up small amounts of icing or eggs...small amounts of anything. The complaints are that the bowl is too big for the beater or whips to really mix and whip ingredients well without leaving lots of unmixed ingredients at the bottom of the bowl. This bowl can help with that concern. The whip is large and the bowl is shorter. You can really get those ingredients mixed together well without having to use a large bowl. NOW, all we need, KitchenAid is a coated or stainless steel beater to fit this bowl!
I have the KSM6573, narrow 6.5 qt bowl lift mixer. This is my favorite accessory! Lets me beat eggs, cream butter & sugar, etc. then remove, add to the large bowl full of dry ingredients and swap to the standard whisk, dough hook or paddle and go! Saves my spare standard size bowl for the next thing I'm making. Used to haul out my KA stick blender to beat eggs, etc, when recipes called for doing wet ingredients & dry separately before mixing them together, but it wasn't quite the right tool, and meant more things to assemble/wash/dissemble and clutter up the counter & sink as I worked. This is also great for making a quick batch of whipped cream for a dessert, meringue for a single pie, and even adding some air & blending ingredients with eggs for an omelet or casserole. Am thinking about ordering another one, just to have on hand when I do holiday cookies, so I can quickly make multiple batches of frostings in different colors & flavors without having to stop and wash & dry everything in between. It was a little tough to get on/off the pins the first few times I used it. I just put a little vegetable oil on my finger and rubbed on the pins, so it went on/off more easily. After that, the holes kind of smoothed out, and I no longer need to do that, it goes on/off easy-peasy. Though the whisk doesn't have as many wires as I'd prefer, it does a great job, just give it a few more seconds than you would when using the larger bowl & standard whisk to produce the same results. Also, shallower bowl means you need to start at a lower speed until you start seeing things begin to thicken & peak. If you crank it up to high speed immediately, like you can do with the large bowl & whisk, you'll get some spatters out of the bowl.
I like this for the option to make a small batch of cookies which worked fine for me in spite of it not having a beater attachment. I have not tried it for whipping yet. I also bought the 3 qt mixer covers. I use one on my 3 qt bowl and one on my 7 qt bowl since it sits inside with enough room to fit the pouring shield on top while keeping the attachments clean inside.
I purchased this for my KitchenAid 7 qt lift bowl stand mixer. Decided to try it out by whipping some cream. Put the bowl in the freezer for a few minutes, then put it on the mixer, added the cream and other ingredients. Within five minutes I had the best, stiffest whipped cream I've ever made! Love this little bowl and wisk! Definitely recommend!
I have had the bowl and combo whip for several years now and love, love, love this so much. Several years ago I sent many request to have something like this, then one day I was looking it up again and voila!, there it was. So, ok I have another request. Is it possible to get a paddle beater for this bowl or will one of the other ones fit this bowl. So many of my recipes call for using a paddle instead of the whip. Thank you so much for continually bringing useful and quality items.
This is a game changing add on for those of us who opted for the larger capacity KA models and love the capabilities but feel limited by the massive bowl. The cobo makes smaller recipes and whipping lower quantities easy, fast, with better results over a hand mixer. Fits my 6qt bowl lift like a glove, and may cause me to part with my original 4.5qt classic plus, recoup some cupboard space. Heartily recommended!
I took the time to ask the experts at kitchenaid via this website if this bowl is compatible with my stand mixer. They replied promptly that it was compatible; sadly' it does not fit and now I'm stuck dealing with the hassle of returning the bowl. Here is my question and the reply from kitchenaid: Is this compatible with KSM5BBU? And, if it is not compatible can you suggest another smaller bowl that would work? Thank you very much for your help. 1 answer KitchenAid Review Team · a month ago Hi TootsMcGee, The KN3CW, 3 Qt. Bowl and Combi Whip is compatible with the KSM5BBU model stand mixer.
I bought the smaller bowl as my 6 quart is too big for most standard baking recipes, just smearing the contents against the sides of the bowl rather than mixing. However, the 3 quart bowl only has a whisk attachment. Batter gets clogged into the spokes. The 3 quart needs a paddle attachment.
Received the bowl today and it doesn't fit. I have inquired 2 separate times whether this bowl would fit my mixed KSM5PPWH both times I was told yes. It looks like it may be defective. Sending it back. When I asked if we should exchange it I was told no send it back then re order.
