I got it for my wedding 4 years ago, and I couldn't be happier. I'm a professional cook and got pregnant 4 years ago and became a stay at home mom, I really didn't want to loose all my knowledge and practice in the kitchen. I use it almost every day and after 4 years is still in great shape (other than cosmetic scratches, it works like the first day). I've noticed it gets a little warm after an hour of use, but if that's the only problem I would take it any day. Because of the amounts of food or the cakes I bake I wish I had a 5 QT. Or bigger but it still works for me. I love this and the day it stops working I would definitely buy a new one
I've wanted a standing mixer since I was 9 years old, twenty years later its all mine!! I got it about a week before Christmas, for all that holiday baking. Ive had cookie dough in my fridge and freezer ever since because its so darn easy now. I could never have dreamed of making such a variety of doughs in so few minutes. Ive also made whipped cream, mashed potatoes, and marshmallows. I can do what used to take me all day in just a couple of hours now, and no blisters! Its everything I ever dreamed it would be, I feel like Martha Stewart.
This was given to as a wonderful surprise gift about a month ago. Now I look for any excuse to use it. I bake and decorate cakes and cupcakes a lot and this mixer has made it like 10x easier make all the elements I need. It also has freed up my hands so I can clean up my kitchen as I let things fully mix.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I keep it on my counter always so then it is handy at all times. I work full time out of town, so supper can be ready faster if for instance I choose to mash potato then it is so easy to drop them in and turn the mixer on for a minute literally! I also love to bake on the weekends and it can whip up cream cheese so fast and simply. My arms used to get tired mixing big or thick mixtures - no more! I do wish the bowl was bigger as I usually make double batches of everything with being a working mother. Should include a splatter screen for baking as dry products fly every where. Mixer is easy to take apart and clean and not a lot of parts.
I am 72 years old and I love to bake...especially breads. My fingers have arthritis and my wrists hurt so kneading was getting really hard for me. A friend surprised me with the gift of this stand mixer. I LOVE it and use it for breads and all of my baked goods. I don't know what I would do without it. I love that when I bake sweet breads or cakes and muffins I can throw everything in to one bowl and just let it mix. Everything comes out much better and so light.!!
there is 'bounce' to this machine as it mixes which my old machine never did. Perhaps it is an improvement. It is also considerably noisier. I don't mean louder, I mean it sounds like it is 'working' when it shouldn't be difficult (mixing cake mix). Perhaps it is improved, but I doubt it. I doubt that this machine will run for 27 years like my last KitchenAid did. Bouncy and noisy.
We bought this stand mixer with high expectations. Upon using the mixer for the first time, we discovered that the flat beater struck the side of the bowl. We called customer service and they advised us to do the "dime" test. We were unable to get it adjusted correctly. We held the phone near the mixer so the representative could hear the noise that was being made and he told us that was normal. We disagreed and promptly took the mixer back to the retailer and purchased an Artisan 5 quart mixer. We have used it several times and it never once has hit the side of the bowl. So much for accurate customer service information.
I like this mixer. It does a good job. I did not like the stainless bowl that comes with this mixer. I washed the bowl before using the first time. The first time I used it (I used it with the paddle attachment), when I scraped my batter out of the bowl, I saw gray streaks in the batter. I washed the bowl again, reused it, and again, gray streaks. When I washed it the third time, I noticed my wash towel was turning gray and my fingers were grayish. For some reason, the stainless was coming off. I checked and the beater wasn't hitting along the bottom or sides. I ended up ordering a glass bowl so this wouldn't happen. I've never had a stainless bowl do this. If this hadn't happened, I would have given the mixer a 4 star rating. It is hard to add additional items while the mixer is running because bowl side is so close to the mixer head (I know that this is a design feature to reduce the need to scrape the bowl). I would like to be able to easily add ingredients without having to purchase a pour shield.
I had my kitchen aid stand mixer and I used it a total of 3 times over a year. On the third use it stopped working out of no where. Since it was past our 1 year warranty literally days.... we could not get it fixed. So angry for wasting all of that money on an appliance I used 3 times.
I bought this almost a year ago, and 2 months ago when I was grinding meat the front motor crashed. The main function is working as expected but the other functions no, so im upset with this brand.
