I received this knife as a gift and was asked to give an honest review. I had low expectations of this knife considering the price point. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The look of this knife is fantastic. The blade is black ceramic and looks very chic and professional. I used it when chopping lots of peppers and onions to a fine dice and it did a great job. I was able to have good control over the knife due to its comfortable handle and my dices were precise and clean. The blade guard is not a necessary addition. More trouble than it is worth, but the wheat is a great idea. This knife could definitely do some damage to your fingers if you reached Into a drawer unaware. Great knife at a great price.
I was gifted this knife to give my honest review. This knife is amazing! It felt like it could cut through anything. I chop and dice a lot of veggies and it did a great job. I love then appearance as it looks like a very high end knife but is a very affordable price. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a knife to add to their kitchen.
I really like this knife! I didn't realize how nice a ceramic knife could be! It is much sturdier than the stainless steel I have. I also love the look of it! I don't have any all black knives, but I really like the way it looks! I also really appreciate the blade cover! When it doesn't come in a block, I think it should always come with a blade cover! I really like the Kitchenaid products I have, and this did not disappoint! I was gifted this in return for my honest review and I would definitely recommend to family and friends!
I was gifted this item to provide an honest review. Overall I really love this knife. I love the black ceramic its very chic. It is a bigger knife but was easy to use and very sharp . I like that it comes with a cover as well. It seems like it is a great quality knife and is easy to clean. I think this is a great product and I would recommend it to others looking for a knife.
I honestly didn't have high expectations when I received this knife. Boy was I fooled! This is a sharp knife. While easily cutting vegetables for our bbq, I also easily cut my thumb. I totally under estimated it. I love the sleek black color. The handle fits nicely in your hand and the weight is perfect for this size knife. I really appreciate the sleeve that came with the knife as I wouldn't want to dig around in the drawer looking for this knife and cut my finger again! Highly recommend! I was gifted this product so I could give an honest review.
Nice package with cover, pretty sharp.
Super sharp! Love that it comes with a case for safety!
The handle on this knife is well crafted. You can get a firm grip that doesn't slip. This is important if your hands get greasy from cutting meats. It is sharp, so make sure you use the blade cover when it is not being used. I really like this product.
I am a huge fan of all of KitchenAid's products, so when I was offered the opportunity to receive this knife as a free gift in exchange for my honest review, I was beyond thrilled. Let's start with the packaging - I typically have a very hard time with the hard plastic packaging, but it was so well thought out, that it literally said on the package to cut around the entire edge to safely remove my knife. It comes with 2 pieces: the very hefty chef's knife and a heavy duty cover. I liked that this cover is straight on all sides, so there isn't technically a "wrong" way to put it in the cover. I have several Cuisinart knives that have covers made to be put on in a very specific manner and can't tell you how many times I've stabbed myself...Speaking of stabbing myself, my favorite part up until now, is that the tip isn't pointy, but rather rounded. GENIUS! Now, on to actually using this knife. While I have only had it a few days, life with a toddler means constantly cutting and cooking, so it got a fair amount of use. The blade was extremely sharp and cut through apples and blueberries alike with ease. The handle is also very comfortable, and has a texture on it. Personally, it makes it feel a little grippier, so that my hand doesn't slip while I'm using it. Overall, I highly recommend this knife, and plan to purchase the other knives in this KitchenAid collection!
Every knife is sharp when it first comes out of the package. Don't listen to people who rave about how great a knife is 3 minutes after buying it. I've owned the knife for over a year. I'm a nut about sharpening my knives to perfection using both hand and machine assisted sharpening devices. The best test of a knife is how it sharpens and then HOLDS an edge. You cannot sharpen a ceramic knife. Period. I have tried hand, stone, diamond, and commercial kitchen knife sharpeners on this blade and forget it. Instead of honing down to a very fine edge, the end of the blade just keeps chipping away on a microscopic level but will NEVER and I mean never be as sharp as it was when it came out of the package. Buy a cheap stainless knife at half the price and just learn how to sharpen. This knife is good for a couple weeks of use at best. Do not buy it.
