Reading many negative reviews here about this bowl breaking. I've used mine almost daily for two years and haven't had an issue. I can't imagine breaking this bowl unless you man handle it. Also people, you can purchase the 6 quart stainless bowl that fits just like the glass bowl on your 6 quart bowl lift KitchenAid. I have both and they both perform fabulously.
My mom really wanted me to learn how to bake. She practically forced me to learn on her kitchen aid. I've been baking every since, that is until my glass bowl broke and a replacement cannot be found. I am so disappointed and heart broken since this mixer has sentimental value because the purchase was inspired my mom who passed away this time last year. How can you make anything glass and not carry a replacement. I'm disappointed kitchen aid.
Way overpriced marked up double from 30 days ago.
After reading through reviews I now know I am not alone. I had an almost identical situation as another reviewer. The side of my bowl cracked and broke off about three inches as well because the beater tapped it. I'm guessing this is common? Nonetheless, I've been on a desert pet search to find a replacement bowl and have been unsuccessful. I've even tried to use other replacement bowls just to see if I could get lucky but no. It seems like they aren't going to be restocking. At this point I'm truly disappointed because this was such a good mixer I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT and now I can't even use it. Ugh.
I received this as a gift some time ago and it has rarely been used. It has sat on my counter for the span of its short life. I was using the mixer to make a cake and the bowl broke. I cut my hand after realizing too late the heavy glass bowl had broken. It is broken in the same spot as the other posters.
I received this mixer as a gift, and it has largely been unused until very recently. Now that we are in quarantine, I have been baking frequently, and my bowl cracked right in the middle of mixing a batch of chocolate chip cookies for a birthday. Not only did my bowl get destroyed, but I had to throw out the entire batch of batter for fear of glass shards, effectively ruining the birthday gift I had planned. I would have expected better from KitchenAid, especially given the cost of this very expensive mixer.
I love the mixer but Kitchen Aid has a serious problem with quality when it comes to this bowl. The one that came with my mixer cracked when I was washing it and I thought it was a fluke. I bought a replacement and it broke as well the same way. I wasn't doing anything that should have caused it to break. I'm out $200.00 in bowls. After reading other comments, its obvious I'm not the only one who has had this issue.
This bowl is not in line with the quality I associate with KitchenAid products. I loved my five qt mixer and decided to upgrade to the 6-qt. The glass bowl was a unique feature that I thought would be fun to use. After only 6 months of careful use and handwashing, the bowl cracked from the inside. Sadly, I cannot use my mixer until I get a replacement. No Bueno!
January 22, 2022 I am a hobbyist baker and my daughter and I spend many hours together baking. It's our thing. For Christmas, I received the Kitchen Aid pro stand mixer with the glass bowl. My daughter was over the moon. I have used it 8 or 9 times, treated it with great care, and never even washed it in the dishwasher. Yesterday while mixing buttercream for my daughter, Eve's coconut cake, the side of the bow cracked. My #1 assistant Eve was in the kitchen with me as usual, handing me measuring cups and throwing eggshells in the garbage. When the glass broke she jumped. Thankfully my daughter was not injured. To be frank, I am not sure what to do. But I will start with this review and end with this thought. I am disappointed with the kitchen aid glass bowl product. It is potentially dangerous.
My Kitchen Aid glass bowl cracked while in regular use. I don't think I will buy another glass bowl to replace. While I really enjoy being able to see if the food was being fully mixed Im not sure that it's worth the safety issue of the bowl breaking while under normal use.
