KitchenAid K400 Variable Speed Blender, KSB4027

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) So far I am loving this blender! It's been quite some time since I've owned a blender and I don't remember them being this user friendly. I sure appreciate the preset options, it takes the guess work out of it. I've used it quite a bit since receiving it. It's easy to use and easy to clean. My iced coffee drinks and smoothies come out like silk! A recipe called for crushed tomatoes - I had diced......a few pulses in the blender and crushed tomatoes it is! I don't usually have appliances sit on my counters but this is aesthetically pleasing and used enough to warrant a permanent place. It gets confusing with all the blender makes and models on the market today, but the choice was easy. I chose KitchenAid because I believe this blender will be around for years to come.

I've had this blender for less than a year. I'm very happy with the look, function, and power. The big issue is the base of the jar. The seals around the shaft did not perform as expected. The shaft for the blades is loose and leaks. I am disappointed, as I expected better from the brand.

I am having the same issue as the others who have given it a single star. The jar has started leaking brown liquid and there is no way, seemingly, to replace the gasket. Like others I decided to spend more for this blender because I have had good success with other Kitchenaid products. I am not prepared to spend almost half the cost of the blender to replace the jar given that it seems Kitchenaid has not rectified the design flaw.

I bought this blender two years ago, and it has never worked perfectly. In the beginning, almost in the second month, it started to leak a black liquid from the bottom of the base, and now it is worse, contaminating the food inside the blender. It is so disgusting and potentially harmful. Before this, I always believed that KitchenAid was a good brand.

The silver option of this blender is advertised on the Walmart site as having a glass jar, but the version I received is plastic. When contacting Walmart regarding an exchange, they said that they used a seller on their marketplace; they didn't handle the purchase themselves. I will have to wait for the seller to reach out to me which will take two days in order to arrange an exchange over the course of another week. This, on top of waiting a week for delivery. Do not buy this item from Walmart. Do not trust their advertising. And do not expect them to stand behind their name to fulfill a purchase on their site. There are lots of other online shopping sites.

We have this product and, like others, suddenly it started leaving rust residue from the gear of the jar. Then the gasket broke. We only used it to make smoothies and took great care with cleaning and drying. Very VERY disappointing. We have not owned it for long. It used to be that Kitchen aid was the most reliable brand we knew and used.
