Melatonin has a very short half life. Time release is the only way to go, and this the only one I've found that actually seems to be time release. Works great! And you definitely don't need a large amount. 2mg is perfect. 1/2mg is supposed to get you to natural levels, but that is for immediate release. 2mg spread out I think is the ideal dose.
