Klean-Strip Green Odorless Mineral Spirits Substitute, 1 Gallon

i purchased this to use as a parts cleaner for an engine is was rebuilding in my garage. i was pleased with the "odorless" aspect since i was using it indoors (it was below freezing outside, so i was in a closed garage with heat on.) i was also pleased with how well it worked in dissolving years of grease and grime with just brushing it on.

Great price compared to my pay at the big box like Home Depot or Lowe's. I use the gallon size and I refill smaller containers around my workshop. Great product.

Low (3%) VOC, almost odorless milky white (not colorless as mentioned in the description) but does the job. I used as oil paint thinner, brush and sprayer cleaner and it performed well for both. Also used to clean up 100% pure silicone. It may dry clear but I still haven't tested it yet.

we clear coat alot of wood furniture this has worked the best since we cant get the old stuff we used, i work for walmart

I had my 20 X 20 foot shed sprayed on it, also had my 12X16 foot shed done and my back porch done they all look so great.They had not been done for over 25 years.

Did not realize it said "Substitute" on the container. I normally use regular mineral spirits to thin the Linseed Oil application on my deck. I suppose this works okay, but it is thick and milky. So thinning out an oil-base with a thick liquid does not thin it out much. Painting it on, it tends to get foamy- making it a bit hard to see small spots missed. Does not soak in as fast either, although it did soak in to the wood as it should.

It works okay, not as good as turpentine worked but i guess its what we now have. To bad progress means loosing much better products to cheap replacements that dont work as well.

Purchased as a parts cleaning solvent, It is thick like cream and doesn't wipe off. No good as a solvent.

the reason this is odorless and "green" is that it is mostly water with some detergent to solubilize really suspend oil-based products. First it is milky and has to be shaken. Within minutes the water settles down to the bottom. I have tried it with both polyurethane and tung oil. I mix by shacking- not good when you use poly since you will get air bubbles- within the time frame of less than a minute if you apply it to wood, you will get water separation and beading on top.

Opened cap and noticed the seal was open. Poured some oil out and it was murky with some solid chunks. Appears someone opened and used and poured back in and returned it. Very disappointed!!!
