Great tool!

Anonymous June 15, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this volt tester and thermometer maybe a year or two ago and hasn't let me down. Always gives a proper reading for voltage or no voltage and the thermometer is accurate. I do HVAC work so the thermometer is a must have. Works great!

Love mine, 2nd because my 1st ended breaking at ca

Sparkie June 15, 2021

I love this NCVT. All I ever use is Klein Tools NCVT. This is my 2nd unfortunately because the cap broke where the batteries are held. When it hit the carpet as I was taking my boots off the top separated even though it was still screwed on it blew the top right off. Bit the bullet and bought another cause HD wouldn't adhere to warranty.

Klein makes good stuff

Mitch November 28, 2017

Klein Tools has provided me with free product and additional incentives to provide an honest review of this product So I've been using this new Klein NCVT-4IR for about a month now and it's pretty neat. Not only is it a non-contact voltage tester, but it's also an infrared thermometer. And if you want to get technical, it's also a laser pointer. I looked into getting an IR thermometer a few years back and it was a couple of hundred bucks. These are around 40 bucks. So far it's worked fine. Obviously it doesn't take the place of a meter, but to get a quick check of voltage on a wire or outlet, it has done its job well. I've even used it as a laser pointer once or twice. I can also say that I gave it the hardest test of all. I accidentally dropped it on to a hard quarry tile floor from a ladder at about 5 feet. It bounced twice, I had that sinking feeling in my stomach when it hit. I picked it up and it worked fine. #kleintools #kleincrusaders

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Amazing , practical and very handy tool, helps a lot if you are in the Electrical and hvac field. And very affordable prices . Klein Tools NCVT-4IR combines two useful functions, a non-contact electrical tester and an IR thermometer. Dust and water Resistant. Bought it a few years ago and have no issues.

Another Great Product From Klein Tools!

Chris S. October 26, 2017

I am an HVAC Service Technician who was supplied this tool as part of a promotion #kleincrusaders. This has been a great addition to my tool bag! Combines 2 useful tools into 1. I have had a chance to use this in the field. It has been a reliable and accurate means of detecting energized and de energized circuits keeping you safe. Detects low and high voltages 12-1000V. Both audible and visual alerts. Great sensitivity to determine energized components from de energized circuits even in close proximity to one another. Infrared thermometer allows you to point and shoot to gather a quick temperature reading at less than 1/3 the size of a regular temperature laser gun. Many other features include back lit display, water and dust resistance, and auto off to save battery. Highly recommend! Thanks #kleintools.

Battery Cap Failure

Grambo October 15, 2023

I've had mine for several years and it's always worked. I took it out of the drawer and observed that the batteries had slipped out. Upon inspection, I observed that the battery cap had failed and was now just a threaded cylinder on the end of the unit. I was looking for a replacement cap, and figured I would get a couple of spares, but I haven't found out where I can find them. Maybe Crazy Glue to bond it back together? Interesting that two other reviewers (out of nine) had indicated their caps had failed--one of them in exactly the same manner, but his was after a drop. Sounds more like plastic is breaking down due to oxidation or something else. Maybe a tougher plastic cap would work better than the the current one, eh?

The clip broke too eaisly and not even 1 year old

LarDo January 15, 2023

I was pulling it out of my tool bag slaught, and the clip broke. I paid a fair amount of money for it and yes it is a big plastic clip, but it should be steel and replaceable! Now it will fall out of my chest pocket a lot!

Battery cap was broken straight out of package.

John Z April 10, 2025

I had this one as a back up. When I went to use it. I cut the package open and the batteries fell out. Never got to use it. Is there a way to get a new cap? I'm not able to take it as I've had it for a while.

Why?!?! Why!?!? KLEIN PLEASE PROVIDE AN ANSWER!!!

Delaware Joe January 10, 2024

I bought this due to its versatility. It's had a rough life with some bandaids at 3 years old but still functions fine. My only complaint, but a huge drawback..the tip of the tester meant to insert into an outlet to test for voltage is TOO SHORT!?!? Every other NVCT at the tip has a strip of metal that extends out far enough to slip into the hot side of an outlet and read voltage. This one does not. Why!?!? What was the reason for the 1/8-inch tip snip on the laser thermometer NCVT? This makes no sense to me. Every other NCVT is plenty long. All but this one. Please Klein why?
