I works perfectly, exactly like it is suppose to.
I got the Klein NCVT2P Dual Range Non-Contact Voltage Tester with my Klein Tradesman Club points on 4/29/26, and it has been a great tool to have. It's simple to use, works exactly as it should, and gives me confidence when checking for voltage. The dual-range feature is especially nice because it makes the tester useful for a variety of situations. I got this as part of the tools I'll be taking with me when I go to the NRVTA in a couple of months. My grandpa and my dad have both trusted Klein Tools for years, and their tools have always held up well, so I decided to stick with a brand that has a strong reputation for quality and reliability. The tester feels well-made, is easy to carry in a pocket or tool bag, and has already become one of the tools I reach for most often. Overall, I'm very happy with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable non-contact voltage tester.
Me my fiance and daughter found out if you put this to a person's skin while they're touching ground it'll stay green but if they quit touching ground it'll flash blue and beep. Great product I use it regularly.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this over 6 months ago when I first started working in the industry and have since then used it countless times on the field and in my own home. Having this tool always keeps me aware and safe and It's safe to say it's definitely one of the top tools I own
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned quite a few of these and they are my go to when checking if the power is off. I have yet to have an issue with it reading incorrectly saving me from some bad shocks. Unfortunately I can't say how long they last as I tend to lose mine or a coworker “accidentally” takes it and I never see it again. I can say I've had one for about 2 years with no issues before it was misplaced so it is well worth the price.
Works well. Easy to use.
I utilized this tester to try to detect a break in landscape line. It did not detect current at various places along the line and at the fixture. I had to pull up significant lengths of the cable to find the break, which I then repaired. The voltage of the landscape line coming out of the transformer was 12 volt AC. I would not utilize this tester on landscape line, even though it is rated to detect 12V current. It does not. The tester seems to work fine at higher voltage levels for me, but was not able to detect current at the 12 volt level. The tech specialist for Klein suggested to me that perhaps I was testing DC current, but I was not. It was 12 volt AC.
I have purchased this from retailer market with another 3. Party brand to compare. I was used to use single range klein electric pen before and wanted to go with double range at this time. Short story is it didn't detect any live outlets (110V)when Im using 70-100V mode. When i switched it to 12-1000V it starts detecting but this time it is so sensitive and it detects too many things. Sadly the other cheap product works better and even it has light on it
It's impossible to insert the sensor in these child protected outlets, unless it's fully inserted it will not detect voltage, and it's nearly impossible to insert without a second parallel probe. So why not improve these sensors with a head that has a dummy probe aside from the sensor?
I'll start off by every other Klein tool I have is great, but this is the exception. As an electrician I need to use a pen tester often when doing rewired and everytime I pull this out of my pocket I need to unscrew the top and then tighten it, it's never the same either have to turn it multiple time to get it working, to get it to turn on. This seem to be a common problem with the 2 other pen testers I've had from Klein and other guys have similar issues. Spend a few dollars more for one that's far better.
