Works great. Very excellent product so far.
Works great. I use this with my brad nailers, framing nailer, stapler. I bought this when I upgraded my compressor. I previously had a cheap, inline filter and lubricator. I regulated pressure at the compressor, which was a pain. Now I can easily regulate, check the filter, and check pressure. Compared to similarly priced FRLs, the quality of materials on this is superior. Though a FRL shouldn't take any abuse anyway, I always tend toward things that are over-built.
I purchased this inline Air, Filter, Oiler to go with my Quincy QT-54 air compressor I also purchased from Northern Tool & Equipment. This is a modular unit meaning you can take it apart by removing the two Allen head screws on the front, this allows you to move the regulator to the front followed by the air filter then the oiler. The reason for doing this is because the air filter and oiler are only rated for uptown 140 PSI but the regulator is rated for up to 225 PSI. My Quincy QT-54 air compressor is a 175 PSI compressor, so I moved the regulator to the front of the line to keep the PSI under the maximum of 140 PSI for the filter and oiler. You will need to adjust the oil flow because it is set to high from the factory. and you will quickly go through oil if you don't adjust it. There are no instructions on how to operate this product, that is a down side to it. The good thing is it is not hard to figure out. To remove the bulbs you press down wards on the plastic slider switch and rotate 1.4 turn and pull down when you align with the correct spot the bulb will separate from the air block. Over all this appears to be a pretty solid unit and should last a long time if you place the regulator first in line for compressors that exceed the 140 PSI limit of the air filter and oiler.
This regulator and filter set-up seems to be high quality, especially for the price. It is 1/2 NPT which is what I needed and having a filter and oil cannister with a regulator is a good value. The regulator took a little getting used to at first but it works fine and seems to hold the pressure pretty well. You can't really go wrong for this price because this is made from mostly cast aluminum and other much more expensive units have more plastic parts.
I bought this when I installed a new Northern Tool compressor and 1/2" airlines. It worked fine, for about 5 years, then started leaking air at the lubricator. Seems like I should have gotten more than five years since my compressor only sees limited use (not seven days a week type use). I would probably recommend something else besides this unit.
This unit is shipped without any documentation, installation instructions, or manual. No idea why, but it's a bit daft, as there should be something that describes how to disassemble and clean the filter and what all of the other adjustments are for on the unit.
Connected my new filter, regulator and lubricator but the regulator was draining my compressor. I called Northern for a replacement but then I found the problem. the air flow indicator arrow on the filter was pointing to the regulator but the arrow on the regulator was pointing towards the filter. the lubricator was pointing away from the regulator, so the regulator was installed backwards with the direction of flow opposite the filter and lubricator. Must have been assembled on a Friday.
I get 6-8 months out of these units. They leak behind the regulator adjustment. My 2nd one just start leaking again.
I’ve had two of these. The first one I received leaked air right from the start, about 4 weeks later the polycarbonate bowl of the Oiler cracked completely. Called customer support and they sent a new one out and this one lasted just past the one year warranty and now I’m searching for a new setup. Unless you’re in the market to replace yearly then maybe keep looking.
I bought this unit for a couple of reasons. I wanted a 1/2" unit, dryer and a regulator that could handle 175 psi. The lubricator, I thought, was a bonus. This unit came with NO documentation, but was easy to install. It started to leak after a year of use at the lubricator. I looked for a manual online and asked NT. The stated there was no documentation from Klutch or parts available. So, if this thing requires a part to fix it, it's trash. I won't be replacing this with another one or one from Klutch.
