Positives: This mattress is perfect for family camping and travelling. We have used this mattress while car camping, as an extra bed in a hotel, as a bed while our furniture was taken for a move, and for kids' sleepovers. It is extremely comfortable and fits one adult and two kids or two adults. For a family of five, this is one of the best camping gear purchases we have ever made. Contextual Negatives: You'll want to get an air pump to blow it up. It has a fairly standard valve, so you don't necessarily have to buy the Klymit pump or pump sack. I've blown it up with lungs only, and had to take a few breaks to avoid passing out. Also, the foam/fabric component stains easily--we get around that by wrapping a sheet with the mattress and travelling with it, but be aware.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've tried a number of foam pads and air mattresses in my quest to go light and compact. This is neither. But this is the only pad I've been able to sleep on in any wilderness condition and get a decent night's rest. Thank you for this innovative design.
I camp in Texas. I am exposed to all different types of terrain here. A lot of rocks and edges. I am a big guy, 6'5" 300+. This mat is great. I have been using the Klymit V lux which is a great lighter weight alternative but the Klymaloft was like a mattress. :)
WOW!! It feels like I am on my @ home when I sleep on this pad. I've had & slept on many other types/ shapes of pads & mattress. This is by far the most comfortable & compact (for it's size) that I've some across. I purchased the double sized pad, when my wife & I are on the pad & she shifts I hardly feel a thing. If you like a good nights sleep while you're camping, do yourself a favor and buy this pad!@
I only recently received this, and haven't had it out in the field yet. I have inflated it and taken several naps, though, and must agree it is the most comfortable pad of its type that I have tried. It is about the same size or a little smaller than my old Thermarest Basecamp, but over twice as thick. It is soft, doesn't feel bouncy like some air pads, and is quite quiet. My only reservation is that the soft foam topper seems to be open cell foam held on by relatively thin/stretchy material. I imagine it will be harder to keep clean, won't dry quickly if it gets wet, and might not be as long-lasting as more typical pads (though all this is just speculation - and hopefully I am wrong). In any case, I'm really happy about the comfort, and that seems to be this pad's mission, so 5 stars for now!
It is super comfy and stays solid when sleeping on it, even when at a lower pressure it doesn't sag inwards like a lof of double pads. definitely takes a fair bit of air to pump up, so would recommend using t for trips where you might have a pump. car camping, rafting ect.
I used the Klymaloft pad on a recent beach camping trip. The pad held up well for two adults and a dog. The foam was super plush and did not lose any air on the cold ground. An air pump is necessary for the inflation of this mattress. I move around quite a bit in my sleep and my wife always complains about it the next morning. The foam absorbed all of my movement, keeping my wife happy and unable to feel my rustling. This mattress takes up about as much space as our queen-sized air mattress without a foam topper. Closing the air valve was kind of tricky to get the hang of. I highly recommend this mattress for anyone car camping that wants to avoid the cold, hard ground.
I purchased this to take traveling when I need extra padding on hotel or cruise ship beds. This is comfortable, but noisy. I can't move without it crinkling.
Cold hard earth and wife You had one job, Klymit: hold air Three tries, no luck, bye
I wish I could give this item a high score, the other reviews showed promise, but for some reason this never stays inflated. From the very first time I used it, and every time afterwards. The air intake and outtake valve is poorly designed, and doesn't lock like Klymit's other products (I have their static V single person air mat, which has never given me any problems). Quite dissapointed.
