K&N Performance Cold Air Intake System: Easy Installation, Engineered to Maximize Airflow, Boost Horsepower & Torque, 57-2549

Just installed a KN Intake on my 02 Ford Lightning...WOW I can't believe the difference in performance. I have the dual KN on my 03 Vette which was installed mostly for looks and sound. This was installed at the same time as an after market exhaust system so I really didn't get the full effect in performance. Even though I wasn't thinking about gas mileage the Vette gets a little over 30 MPG on the road at 80-85 MPH. The truck performance is a different story, I was advised incorrectly that unless I chipped it I would not be able to tell the difference with an air intake. Not true there is a very distinct improvement in low end performance and the super charger sounds awesome with the intake. Don't know the improvement in gas mileage yet but I can sure use help the truck gets 12 on a good day.

KandN, I installed the FIPK kit on my 2004 F-150 5.4L 4x4. It took about an hour to install, the directions that came where very helpful because it included detailed pictures. After installation there was a noticeable difference in throttle response immediately. Also there was an increase in gas mileage from 16mpg to 19mpg(highway). could use a little more quality control on the plastic pre drilled holes. i did also have to drill out my big washers so the bolts would fit properly but other then that its a solid kit for sure. i really like how it mounts down and its sturdy vs the JLT that just lays where the old air box goes much better kit for the money in my opinion.

Instructions clear and good. But the nipple that screws into the air intake would not fit, called your help line they sent replacement part. No luck same fitting. Seems that air intake tube was manufactured with incorrect thread. $25.00 and a new thread chaser ( 1 time use ) problem fixed. Might be a good idea to check remaining stock. I realize that there are not many 2004 Ford Lightnings left to equip. Performance benifited. Gas mileage I don't know. When you mash the skinny peddle to much it doesnt help. Truck is one of the last one hundred made and I am trying to wear it out odometer shows 8500 mi. Overall I am quite happy with your products I also have your intakes on My 04 Expedition and 04 F250 6.0.
