I've replaced OEM air filters with the equivalent K&N filters in all my vehicles for the last 10 years or so. I've never really seen any appreciable increase in mileage using the replacement filter cartridges, but I can feel a gain in horsepower in the weak little 4 cylinder cars I've had. When I bought my 2008 Mustang GT I decided to splurge and get the CAI kit No.63-2565. Not only did I gain about 10 HP at the rear wheels, but my highway mileage jumped from 27 mpg to 31 mpg cruising at 70 mph. Not too shabby for a 300ish HP V8 engine. If K&N made a CAI kit for my Ford Ranger I'd buy it. It's not a race vehicle, but I'm sure I would enjoy a little more HP and better mileage, although 27 mpg highway isn't bad for a small P/U truck.
Couldn't be happier with this purchase! Was the best $300 I've spent in a long time. Was easy to install and now my 2008 Mustang sounds even better than it did before. Seems to me that it shifts smoother and definitely gave my car more power in every gear. Also noticed that at higher mph the rpm's don't go nearly as high as they did, so therefore better gas mileage. Thank you K&N:)) You have a great product!
Fantastic Product! I have used K&N box filters for years and have always been satisfied with the durability and performance. I recently purchased a 2006 Ford Mustang GT for a weekend driver and installed a performance tune that achieved satisfactory increases in torque and horsepower. However, I recently installed the K&N series 63 Air Charger system and HOLY COW! the torque horsepower and now lightning fast throttle response and super G force acceleration are nothing short of incredible not to mention a killer thriller. The power increase was well beyond my expectations. I highly recommend this product, it is easy to install and is a good value for the bolt on performance/ horsepower gains. Thanks K&N. Sincerely,
Installed the K&N air charger intake system in my 2007 Ford Mustang GT today. I know very little about cars, have never done work like this in the past but it was very easy for the most part. My only gripe was the radiator fan shroud mounting bolt was a beast to put on and sadly for me my wife who also knows very little about any of this finally got it after about a half hour of battling it. Everything else was simple, explained in plain english, oh and the best part, only driven it a tad bit so far, don't know about gas mileage increase, but definately hear and feel a power difference. I gave it a shot, I won't lie, I had my doubts, but any doubt has been put to sleep, it's great, huge power feel and sound gain, want to top it off some time soon with an exhaust... (Pending wifes approval). Great product K&N has a new customer!
I own 2 vehicles and have put K&N performance intake systems on both. Not only has the performance of the car and truck both improved but the ease of cleaning and renewing the filters is a breeze and they have paid for themselves many times over. The latest intake kit I put on my 2007 Mustang GT and could feel the difference as soon as I started it. It simply is a great product. Thanks.
I just drove my 09 Mustang GT with my new K&N cold air intake (63-2565)... it is awesome!! It seems as if I have a different car! A much better acceleration combined with a sound that drives you crazy!! Much better than I expected!
Great product!
Good quality materials. Waa a little difficukt getting some it the clamos to work. Bending the flexible strip was a pain, until I got the hang of it. I would recommend using sheet metal snips to cut the strips to size. Used a wrencless clamp, to secure the PVC valve. Makes a neater job and is easier to get to, with the valve covers i have. The position it was in, made it almost impossible to get a wrench or screwdriver near it. Ended up making a nice looking job, that works well with my hood; designed to work with a cold air box.
The breather tube connection is poorly designed. The product I received was poorly molded, the breather tube was twisted and not of the standard I would expect from a world class manufacturer like K&N. Replacing the Ford breather with a piece of hose and a clamp is not professional. I would have rather had the aluminum style but the HP rating was lower plus it was not available. In addition the two loose mounting bracket installation was poorly documented and required adjustment. Signed, Well seasoned design engineer, very long time automotive enthusiast and business owner.
