I have a 1996 F-150 5.8L V8, Before I bought my K&N intake I was averaging around 10mpg city, and 14 highway. After removing my old paper filter, and installing my new cold air K&N intake, I realized how much easier my truck gets up to speed and has alot more power response. The best part would have to be the gas mileage though. I'm getting 13.5 mpg city, and 16 highway!! I by far, am impressed. K&N you have surely done your homework!
I am very happy with this intake kit. It was very easy to install with the minimal tools I have. The instructions were very straight forward and simple. It has noticeably changed the horse power, and more so, torque of my Ford pickup! I would also add that if someone is looking for an intake that doesn't add a bunch of engine noise, like some on the market, K&N is the best choice! Thanks K&N. Keep up the good work.
I have a 1996 F-150 XLT with the 4 speed automatic overdrive, and the 5.0 liter engine. 219,321 miles. I installed the K+N FIPK and a CAT back single into dual exhaust system. The truck now gets 27 mpg on the highway, and does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. It sounds like a Mustang GT on steriods when you stomp it to the floor.
Very nice air system (57-2543). Easy install took about 45 mins. Haven't put No.'s on gas mileage but I know it has improved as well as hp. Will buy again for my other pickup.
Absolutely the BEST item I have ever purchased for my truck. K&N engineering is genius. My truck runs 150 percent better than it ever has. It was an INSTANT difference the second I started my truck. Thank you for giving new life to a 19yr old truck
Fairly easy to install, instructions are easy to read.
The engine just seems to stutter out when you floor it. You lose all power going up a hill and even got a tub up kit, plugs, wires, distributor, etc, just in case that was the problem. It does NOT Work
