I have just installed the intake kit. When I started the motor up - WOW. I sure do like the new sound of the motor. I am currently checking out the mileage to see how much better it will be. I could tell a difference in the acceleration as soon as I first tried it out. Now, why didn't I install this years ago? Duh!
I like what the intake kit did for my Expedition, I was getting 13.4 MPG now I am getting 14.7. I found a 1.4 MPG increase in mileage and I am grateful for that. The response is so much quicker and of course the sound is really cool!!!! Then I also put on a set of shorty headers and increased my mileage by 1.3 MPG that's a total of 2.7 MPG with a grand total of 16 miles per gallon. At this moment in time my mileage is still increasing the other day I hit 17.2 miles to the gallon, and I have a 5.4L. After my future trip I would like to report back my gas mileage, at this rate, I'm sure its going to be great!! Thank you K&N. A very happy customer.
My restored 1999 Ford Expedition has more power and better response during acceleration. Prior to installing the K&N intake, I installed a performance exhaust system and experienced a moderate amount of HP increase. After I added the K&N intake it turned my late model SUV in to a beast. This truck has never performed so good. I recommend this product to anyone looking to improve the performance of their vehicle at an affordable price.
This intake system works great. I only have about 200 miles on it so far so and I haven't had sufficient time to compare fuel economy to the stock intake. However, I can feel a difference in power. There is also a big difference in sound. It made my 2002 F150 sound much throatier. It was pretty easy to install as well. The instructions are quite clear. In my opinion well worth the money.
Hello, I recently installed a "Fuel Injection Performance Kit Gen2" in my 2002 Ford F150 4.6L V8. I am very happy with the results. I can feel and hear the difference when accelerating. Very nice. :) I have no experience as a mechanic, yet I was able to follow the instructions and install it in a couple of hours. Great product, Thanks!
Just installed the cold air intake a couple of days ago and immediately put 300 miles on the thing! one word, awesome! I'm like the other customer, the sound is devastating, and the gas mileage is though the roof! But let's be honest, I didn't install it for the fuel economy, (although at this point, I can't imagine not having one) I installed it for the performance, and K&N delivers big time! The sound, the performance, the fuel economy (my pocket book thanks you) un-real! Thanks guys your the best!
Removing the old intake and Installing the Performance Intake on my 1997 Expedition took around and hour and a half. It roars like no other now matched with a good set of headers, I plan on installing more K&N intakes on my other vehicles.
Pretty straight forward. Plumbing the air bypass valve on the 4.6L, to make it fit under the throttle body cover, was not much fun. When reading the instructions under NOTE: on step 25 it made me laugh. I know some how it wasn't going to be as easy as I thought. But I think I got it and it appears to be working fine.
I saw a slight improvement in gas mileage, but I don't do a lot of highway travel. The biggest benefit is the responsiveness when accelerating...it was like my Expedition was sufferring from Asthma for 10 years and it took it's first big breath after installing the Performance Intake Kit. Looking forward to a long road trip to see the gas mileage improvement. The installation is not complex and instructions are pretty good. I have recommended this product to a few friends who have subsequently bought and installed the kit in their vehicles.
Ease of installation great. Only complaint is the heat protection box did not fit well up on the front side against the radiator fan shroud - about a 3/4" gap no matter how I fine-tuned the fit. Performance increase was immediately noticeable and will improve even more after I install the new Magna Fow exhaust system. Satisfied and would recommend.
