K&N Performance Cold Air Intake System: Easy Installation, Engineered to Maximize Airflow, Boost Horsepower & Torque, 57-3030-1

I purchased the intake a few months ago and it woke my 8.1L up! She roars and has hp gain you can feel! Would recommend to any 8.1L owner! Get the bang for your buck! But sadly i did not recieve the mpg gain (didnt expect to either...) it's a big block. Good mpg is not part of how this beast works

I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Extended cab, with the 8.1 L gas engine & Allison 5 speed tranny. I am as suspect as anyone can be about any automotive add-on that supposedly gives you Wonder bra results. After researching the internet, your site, and talking to people I personally know, I purchased and installed the K&N Filtercharger. I filled up the tank, (this truck loves gas stations), and drove it the same as the previous trips, which consists mostly of commuting. My first tank produced 11.5mpg, which is a 10% improvement over the previous tank of gas. I did notice a more robust exhaust note while idling. I don't know about performance, but if the mileage went up, then the performance would also be likely to improve. To try and find out would be counter-productive, and would waste a lot of gas. As one associate at work said," One way to look at it is every 10th tank of gas is free". The filter will pay for itself in 3 months.

The 57-3030-1performace intake kit not only looks like it belongs on my 2003 Silverado 2500HD 8100 Vortec but it also performs amazingly. Installation was super easy and the directions were straight forward. Installation only took 45 minutes! When I took it for a test drive the results where drastic from oem air intake vs the K&N intake kit. At wide open throttle it really surprised me how much better my truck could breath. The kit has been on my truck for 9 months now and the parts are still strong and not showing any signs of weakness or even failure. I have experienced my fuel mileage get slightly better but with the extra horses from the K&N it's hard to drive lightly. I always tell my friends to go the K&N route.
