My stock intake flex hose split so I decided to use this as a replacement/repair and upgrade at the same time. Took me less than 30 minutes total time (removal of old intake to starting engine again) with an 8mm, 10mm socket, flat head screwdriver and a pair of pliers. Wow am I impressed! 5th and 6th gear 50 to 70mph acceleration was much smoother with a noticeable power gain. 0-60 time is amazing and they only claim a 10.5 hp increase. When V-Tech kicks in this thing sounds amazing!!!! and high RPM power is MOST DEFINITELY increased!! Low RPM and normal driving do not seem to be any louder so the comfort level is not decreased and I can keep my quiet commuter at the same time! Had I known what a difference it would have made I would have done it brand new! My car has 215,000 miles on an otherwise stock never rebuilt engine and it just came back to life!
I just installed the Typhoon intake system on my '06 Acura RSX Type-S today; taking off the stock airbox was more work than installing the Typhoon! The performance increase was noticeable right away, even with normal acceleration; it was more responsive even at low RPM's (under 3k) and really comes alive at 6k and above. Yes, there's more noise when accelerating hard but the extra boost in horsepower is also there; getting from 0-60 took noticeably less time and the extra boost at 6k and above feels like a rocket gets ignited behind the car. My only complaint has nothing to do with the K&N system - I wish the car had another 2k of RPM before hitting redline so I could really let this thing wind-up! Highly recommended system; my guess is that when driving under normal conditions the added, less-constricted airflow will probably add a bit to gas mileage, and with prices near $4.00 a gallon every little bit helps. Thanks, K&N.
Install was pretty cut and dry. What I noticed is a deeper tone. Better throttle response and a jump in power! It really woke my motor up!!!!!
It has been everything that was advertised. I have noticed better high-end performance and my gas mileage is getting better.
